Contributing to the local economy
Meta isn't just building a site in El Paso — we're fueling an economic engine in West Texas. New businesses opening. Local contractors growing. Suppliers adding headcount. And we're backing it up with workforce development, partnerships, and support for small businesses.
Our El Paso data center will generate tens of millions of dollars in new local taxes for the City of El Paso, El Paso County, the Ysleta Independent School District, the El Paso Community College, and the University Medical Center that will support services, roads, emergency services, parks and recreation, libraries and broader community services.
Prioritizing energy stewardship
- Meta worked with El Paso Electric to plan for our energy needs and to ensure we are paying the full costs for the energy used and infrastructure needed to support our data center so consumers are not negatively impacted.
- Meta is committing nearly $1 billion in local infrastructure improvements including energy, roads, water and wastewater.
- This includes over $910 million in transmission, grid upgrades, and new generation funded through Meta's contracts adding resiliency to the broader electrical grid for ratepayers.
Supporting water stewardship and restoration
- Our goal is to be water positive in 2030, where Meta will restore more water than we consume globally. In El Paso, we will restore 200% of the water consumed by the data center to local watersheds. Initial projects include delivering clean, running water to over 100 homes through our DigDeep partnership and irrigation-efficiency projects for local farmers that will restore millions of gallons of water each year.
- Meta has worked closely with the City of El Paso and El Paso Water to pay the full cost of water and wastewater service for our data center. We are also providing a grant to El Paso Water’s AguaCares program to help families in need with water bills.

Our long-term commitment
Over $12 billion already committed across Texas, making Meta one of the most significant contributors to the state's digital infrastructure and economic competitiveness.
We are working with Workforce Solutions Borderplex to support community access to America’s Workforce Academy, a cost-free skilled trades training program where participants are guaranteed a job at one of Meta’s job sites - including the El Paso data center. We’re proud that this is the largest private-sector commitment to the skilled trades with a job guarantee in American history - and we’re excited to be able to bring this opportunity to El Pasoans.
