Fantastic VR Game! Fireproof Nailed It!
I've just played Ghost Town, and it's a rare gem in the Meta Quest store. Set in 1983 London, I stepped into the shoes of Edith Penrose, a medium who helps restless spirits move on. This isn't your typical jump-scare horror game; instead, it creates an atmosphere of dread and suspense without cheap tricks.
The puzzles involve intricate machinery that feels wonderfully tactile in VR. While they're more about observation than brain-bending challenge, they serve the narrative beautifully. The game looks stunning - possibly the best-looking native Quest title I've played, with remarkable lighting and motion-captured characters that feel alive (or appropriately dead).
The audio design deserves special praise. From the perfectly timed music to environmental sounds and excellent voice acting, Ghost Town creates an auditory experience that enhances every moment.
At 4-5 hours, the game doesn't overstay its welcome, though I found myself wishing for more. My only real complaints are that the puzzles are a bit too easy, the limited world interactivity, and the lack of real stakes - you can't actually fail.
Fireproof Games has created something special that understands VR's unique strengths - intimacy, presence, and tactility. Ghost Town isn't for everyone, but for those who appreciate atmospheric storytelling in VR, it's a quiet triumph that lingers long after you remove the headset.
