After having completed and thoroughly enjoyed Assassin‘s Creed Nexus VR, it’s difficult not to notice the imperfections and shortcomings of this title. Of course, the budget for this will only have been a fraction of what AC had. Still, the problem doesn’t lie with graphics or soundtrack (both of which are really great and very atmospheric!) but with game mechanics and world restrictions. Different to AC, you cannot climb around freely here (at least after playing for 2hrs, no idea if it changes). You also cannot properly jump, you „blink“ instead, which kills the immersion for me. I’ve played this via Horizon+. My 4* rating is generous, it’s likely more like a 3.4. Worth picking up only for the atmosphere when on sale, but if you’ve tried and enjoyed roaming AC‘s Venice, then this is not as enjoyable in terms of play mechanics and free movement.
