Where do I begin here? Compound is just absolute fun. If you've seen footage of the game and you like the retro style and the concept of the game, you'll absolutely love this game. I'm going to highlight some of the main things that make this game so much fun: -Weapons- There are lots of different weapons, all balanced just right for what their purpose is, and color coded so you have a nice easy visual representation of what type of weapon you have. Reloading is carefully designed for each weapon, even just reloading is fun. -Customization: The game is highly customizable with all of the different mutators and 3 different difficulty modes, you can tweak it to whatever your comfort zone is. -Visuals: The visuals are so bright and vibrant, and crisp. The game runs silky smooth, and the textures are all interesting. You really feel like you're in an old MS-DOS first person shooter game. The color coding also applies to enemies, the enemies will be using whatever weapon matches the color of their outfits. -Sound & Music: Firing the weapons have big, full chunky sounding synth pulses that sound great. I find myself just firing the guns sometimes just because it feels so good. The spacial sound is great, and foot steps give you a heads up of when enemies are coming around corners. The soundtrack is killer, the synthwave music sounds so good and nails the atmosphere of the game. Compound is the pinnacle of replayability. It's so easy to jump in and jump out of a game for short bursts, or forget your wife is waiting in the car to go to dinner. If you still love playing older DOS FPS games like Wolfenstein and love the idea of a VR equivalent, this is it. Plus being a roguelike, you're always going to get a fresh run. Must have!
