Best adventure game on VR -- Indy style!
I have to confess that I have been massively in love with the PlayStation Indiana Jones games (and the "Emperor's Tomb" one in particular). This game (I am still playing it, for several evening by now) brings back the emotions and fun I remember from the early console age.
But "Eye" is not just a nostalgic rehash. Instead, it is a quite fantastic and unique combination of environmental magic (who can resist exploring an age old temple? ;-), intellectual challenges (the intuitive and straightforward way is not always the most promising one!) which are demanding, but not over-demanding, and physical challenges which make PERFECT use of the immersive nature of virtual reality -- stepping from one stone to another, doing so in deep caves and on high plateaus which will confront all kinds of phobias that you carry around with you... -- but again, not in a way that is beyond doable, and accomplishing the tasks might actually help a little to face those phobias, as it did in my case! (And yes, there might be a reason for the mine cart track you see in several places around the temple... ;-)
The producers also did a great job with the game's narrative and the way it is told -- mystically and non-linear (but it still all seems to 'make sense'), obviously crafted with a true love for the classical adventure stories.
Finally, the animation is also marvelous -- not high-fidelity detailed, but absolutely fine and aesthetically appealing. The only thing that I have missed was a multiplayer feature, but my son and I kind of overcame that limitation by playing it parallel with two headsets, being connected via Meta's audio call feature. Highly recommended game for everyone who loves Indiana Jones and similar adventurous hero archetypes -- and always wanted to crack the whip in the ruins of a mystical temple! ;-)
