Better Than All The Rest
For context, I have had every Quest headset, from back when they were made by Oculus, to the Meta Quest 3 now, and I have been streaming games from my PC since it had a 2060 super, to the 5070 TI that I have now. I used to use "Oculus link" with a 15ft cable back in the day, and have since used Air Link, Steam Link, and also ALVR, to a lesser extent. And that brings me to Virtual Desktop, which I can confidently say is the best wireless streaming app on Quest/PC (at least that I have used). I haven't even bothered using any others in the last 6 months cuz VD just consistently works well for me. I often stream very demanding content, physics-heavy stuff that takes time to render for instance (Iykyk), and everything runs smoothly, with better results than I've had with the other choices available. There are many useful settings, like res scaling & choosing your codec, so it runs smoother with your specific PC build — they also continue to release updates to improve it. With that said, if your library is all on Steam, then Steam link is free and has a number of useful options as well. Overall, I highly recommend getting Virtual Desktop if you're looking to play VR games wirelessly on your PC — its also been my go-to for watching 3D/VR videos on my PC comfortably in my bed lol. Just make sure to also download the PC version of the app on your computer, and then it's very easy to get it set up from there. I'm not sure what I would do without Virtual Desktop, as it's been the most consistently reliable way to connect my headset to my PC without a cable and still get smooth gameplay. Thankfully, the Meta store has a great return policy, so buy it now and try it out for 2hrs over 2wks, then if you aren't happy with it, you can request a refund. But I am pretty sure the team over at Virtual Desktop Inc care about their product and will be happy to assist any new users in getting up & running. And there shouldn't be many issues, cuz after 5+ years of using Virtual Desktop, seeing the updates & QoL changes over the years, it's now the best and most refined, user-friendly, feature rich app of its kind.
