Fantastic!
Update:
I just finished it, (except for the Christmas DLC, I’m saving that for December).
I’ve raised my score to five stars, despite the little glitches. It’s worth every penny.
Original Review:
After less than an hour I was hooked. I’m probably around two hours into the game and it looks like there’s still a ton of stuff to do and little worlds to explore.
The graphics are beautiful and very detailed. The real time shadows add to the atmosphere and the illusion that you have a magical LEGO set floating in your room.
The only reason I can’t give it five stars is because of technical glitches and an odd design choice.
After a new world loads up there a brief period where the image jitters around. In the MR mode the guardian is left on which is immersion breaking. There’s no reason to have the guardian on if you’re looking at your real environment.
I don’t know why they chose to reposition the LEGO world at certain times like when there’s a cut scene or between transitions. It’s a little annoying to have to keep dragging the world back to where you want it.
If they fix the jittering glitch, switch off the guardian in MR mode, and add a way to disable the auto repositioning, then this game will be as close to perfection as possible.
