Good old arcade style fun
Some strange phenomenon occurs in the North sea and Behemouth attack Earth (?) A war hero returns to fend off these Behemouth in a mech suit (after the death of his daughter)
You play the role of the mech pilot in a "wave shooter" with rogue-lite elements.
Starting of with a sword that actually doubles up as a boomberang, you fend of waves of a enemies. Each with their own attack patterns, from ones that charge head on towards you, to ones that fly and launch projectiles.
Levels gradually ramp up, with one enemy type and then another and another, before it becomes a frantic battle as you try and get your enemy priorities right.
You have a limited shield for emergencies.....but even that will only get you so far.
Between waves you get a choice of randomised perks ranging from simple damage boosts to more exotic ones (every 5th sword attack causes an explosion)
Taking too much damage will take you back to the hanger with "blu" currancy to spend on unlocking weapons/ultimate abilities to use in a pinch. As well as to spend upgrading weapons and the mechs armour.
When you finally sufficiantly upgraded, learn how enemies behave and how you should prioritze....you eventually come across the levels' behemouth boss.
These boss are far bigger than normal enmies and they also have more of a varied moves list.
Its a case of good old learning attack pattern and knowing when you should attack or when you should emergancy shield. Even though its mainly a stationary wave shooter, there are instances where dodging an attack physically, is as effective as trying to block or deflect.
Its simple arcade style fun with the twist of experimenting with different weapon and perk loadouts to keep it fresh.
Theres something undeniably cool with deflecting enemy shots with the sword in one hand, whilst shooting the approaching ground troupes with your other!
Theres plenty of enemy weapon/perk variety to keep you comming back. Whilst the blu upgrade system makes every failure a blessing in disguise.
Great sound track!
Just dont expect too much of a story....which honesly was probably not needed for an arcade style wave shooter.
