I’m gonna finally write a review after playing this game for two and a half years.
Don’t be fooled by people who simplify this game down to something like “all you do is throw weapons” or “melee sucks just use ranged.” This game is…so much more.
It really is for everyone. Want to play solo? There’s an offline mode! Want a team? Great instant matchmaking! Not great at fighting? Plenty of low-intensity styles that are still effective! Want to uncap the skill ceiling and become unstoppable? Creative and technical strategies are very well-rewarded!
Take it from me - a guy who’s used nothing but a bow and an axe from pretty much level 1 to dominate every difficulty I came across. Does this game require skill to be truly noteworthy? Yes. Eating popcorn while playing is not recommended.
But the most important thing is that this is a game where you can always come back to and never be bored. Procedural generation, seven different difficulty levels, four different realms, randomly generated weapons, and the choice to make things REALLY hard if you want? That’s what we in the gaming industry call a “good time.”
