AI Glasses v21 Software Update: Conversation Focus, Meta AI Improvements, & More
’Tis the season of gift giving, and thanks to regular software updates, our AI glasses are truly the gift that keeps on giving — getting smarter and more useful over time. We’re starting to roll out v21, which is our last software update to bookend an incredible year for AI glasses. Not only are we making the glasses and their AI integrations more helpful, we’re also improving the way you experience music with your glasses, and giving Oakley Meta Vanguard a hands-free performance boost.
Let’s unwrap some of these features.
Hear Above the Noise With Conversation Focus
At Connect, we announced conversation focus, a new feature that lets you hear your conversation better in noisy environments. And today, we’re beginning to roll it out in Early Access for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN in the US and Canada.
Whether you’re eating at a hot new restaurant, commuting on the train or picking up a coffee at a busy cafe, conversation focus uses your AI glasses’ open-ear speakers, beamforming technology, and real-time spatial processing to dynamically amplify the voice of the person you’re talking to. You’ll hear the amplified voice sound slightly brighter, which will help you distinguish the conversation from ambient background noise so you can stay tuned into the moments that matter. You’ll also be able to easily adjust the amplification level by swiping the right temple of your glasses or through your device settings to match the loudness of your environment.
It’s easy to get started once you’ve joined the Early Access program. Just say, “Hey Meta, start conversation focus,” and the feature will turn on. You can turn it off with a simple voice command, too. You can also assign a tap-and-hold action, letting you turn on conversation focus by tapping your finger and holding it on the right arm near your temple. Hear what matters most — and look good while doing it.

Soundtrack Your World With Meta AI + Spotify
We’re introducing the first multimodal AI music experience for our Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses in partnership with Spotify. Whether you’re looking at an album cover or a festive holiday scene , you can simply say, “Hey Meta, play a song to match this view.” This bridges computer vision and recognition with Spotify’s powerful personalization to create a playlist based on your unique taste, customized for that specific moment . This feature is available in English language in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, the UK, and the US.
New Languages for Music-Related Voice Commands
We’re rolling out French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish voice commands on Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses to control your music experiences. Just connect your AI glasses to audio apps like Amazon Music, Apple Music, Shazam, and Spotify and ask Meta AI to play, identify, or personalize your soundtracks with your voice. The rollout starts in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, the UK, and the US, with more on the way in 2026.
Faster Commands, to Keep Up With You
We’re adding voice shortcuts in English to Oakley Meta Vanguard, enabling faster and easier hands-free control of your glasses on those epic trail runs and bike rides. Save some breath and invoke specific actions with a single word, rather than having to start with “Hey Meta.”
Once you turn the feature on (it’s off by default), the word “photo” takes a photo, “video” takes a video, and “music” plays music. There’s even additional functionality related to your stats when you’ve paired a compatible Garmin watch.
Personalize the Burn
Finally, we’re adding the ability for owners of Oakley Meta Vanguard to create custom run and bike workouts directly from the glasses once they’re paired with a compatible Garmin device. This is also available on Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN glasses. Some sample prompts you could use:
- “Hey Meta, let’s do a bike ride.”
- “Hey Meta, create a 1 hour bike ride workout with power between 170W – 190W.”
- “Hey Meta, I'm going for a 12 mile run in heart rate zone 2.”
- “Hey Meta, create a 1 hour run at 14 minutes per mile.”
- “Hey Meta, create a bike ride for 20 miles with cadence below 75 rpm.”
Good Things Come to Those Who Wait
As always, our v21 software update is rolling out gradually so we can squash bugs as we find them. If you don’t see the above functionality right away, rest assured that we’re working diligently to deliver it to you. And if you haven’t joined the Early Access program, consider doing just that to make sure you get the latest and greatest as soon as it’s out of the gate.
