You stand now at the crossroads of destiny, Cosmic Guardian. Loki has vanished, but his chaotic essence echoes through the cosmic tapestry.
Loki’s disappearance bears a shadow of consequences that shall envelop all existence.
We hold you accountable, for you were his pupil. It must be you who restores the balance, or we shall witness the unmaking of everything.
Stop Loki, for it’s not only your fate that hangs in the balance—but the very fabric of reality.
Now your next journey begins, one far greater than the last. You must forge your fate in the face of the coming chaos.

—The Weavers

Loki has escaped, and only you can restore balance to the threads of fate. Your saga starts now.

On this immersive VR journey, you’ll traverse massive landscapes astride powerful mounts and explore the depths of ancient temples. You’ll unearth secrets across Egyptian and Norse realms and the mysterious liminal space of The Inbetween.

In these vast expanses, wild creatures, fierce predators, and formidable foes roam freely, offering countless opportunities for extraordinary encounters in this thriving, living world.

As you immerse yourself in the land of the gods, you’ll stand in awe of your surroundings. Monumental statues reach towards the heavens, hiding within their shadows secrets and treasures waiting to be discovered.

Prepare yourself. There is no turning back. The fate of reality itself depends on your courage and determination.

Your Journey as the Cosmic Guardian

Asgard’s Wrath 2 picks up where Asgard’s Wrath ended—in Aegir’s Hall—only now, the illusory tavern has disappeared, along with Loki himself. Only a strange artifact remains.

When you examine the artifact, a mysterious voice calls out. Suddenly, you’re ambushed. After a brief skirmish, you’re whisked away to an eerie landscape known as The Inbetween where you encounter the Weavers—three giant, mysterious women with the ability to see the future.

The Weavers lay the blame for Loki’s disappearance on you. As his former pupil, it is your duty to find him before he wreaks havoc upon all existence.

You leave The Inbetween through a mysterious portal and find yourself in Ancient Egypt, deep inside of a dilapidated tomb to the creation god Atum. There, you meet Abraxas—a cynical tomb robber with a grudge against the gods. You rescue him from certain doom, and together, you escape the temple only to be met by a blind god.

This god takes you to his refuge, an abandoned outpost that houses all Egyptian gods who have rebelled against Set, the tyrannical ruler of Ancient Egypt. The mysterious blind god reveals his true identity. He is Horus, the exiled heir to the Egyptian kingdom. Set is his uncle who unjustly took his birthright and sight and with it—his divine power.

Horus sees that you have goals in common and becomes a strong ally in your quest to find Loki.

You Are the Cosmic Guardian

You are a divine being, but your role in the universe is beyond the gods. You have the responsibility to defend all of reality itself, across many universes and mythologies. In your quest to find and stop Loki, you will possess four unique mortal heroes—each with different abilities, weapons, and quest lines to satisfy all playing styles. You must gain followers and improve your abilities and combat skills on your quest to help the Egyptian gods in their own battle against Set—an ally of Loki. If you help them, they may be able to help you defeat the trickster god, hopefully for the final time.

Main Characters

Abraxas

A cynical tomb robber turned traveling mercenary, Abraxas deals out death with the vicious boomerang Stone Cutter’s Axe, the unique whip sword called Bahku’s Spine, and his bladed shield, Manu’s Shell, which was forged by the god Ptah himself. After his father was killed by the bloodthirsty lioness goddess Sakhmet, Abraxas swore vengeance against the gods. But now he needs your help. Can you help this hardened and jaded warrior survive and get his revenge against the gods? Abraxas is boldly brought to life and voiced by Jacob Anderson.

Cyrene

A spirited, independent young naiad with a fierce sense of justice, a love of nature, and the occasional tendency to rush into situations without a plan. Empowered by the Cosmic Guardian, her agility and parkour skills grant her swift and fluid movement through her surroundings. Together, you’ll wield her unique living Protean weapons—a snake-like sword that spits out its fang-lined tongue to slice through enemies and a squid-like harp-shield that shoots deadly projectiles and can use music to solve puzzles. She’s also equipped with a jellyfish turret named Ephyra that aids you in battle with piercing venom. Masterfully voiced by Tessa Thompson.

Alvilda

Raised in a well-to-do elven household and trained in various martial arts to be a competent ranger and tracker, Alvilda’s tough exterior is armor for a sincere desire to protect others. Against all elven protocol, Alvilda has taken her Bladed Bow, her vicious Claws, Prism Shield, and Luminous Mines and left Alfheim. She’s on a secret quest to stop the “awakening” of Surtur—one of the key signs of the Ragnarok prophecy. Although she is dismissive at first, she eventually asks for your help—because the only way to stop Surtur’s awakening is to assassinate the fire giant as he slumbers. Alvilda is brought to life and voiced by Sonequa Martin-Green.

Djehuty

In his former life, Djehuty was a highly-respected scribe with the power to heal, sustain, curse, and protect with magic spells. Upon awakening in Duat, however, he has realized that his soul and body have failed to reunite. Lost and confused, he wishes to accompany you in order to receive resolution for his death. An undead soul, Djehuty carries his Necromantic Staff and can use his own head as a Skull of Possession to make his enemies fight alongside him throughout Duat. He also is equipped with bone beads that can spawn portals for him to strategically move through his battles and solve puzzles. Djehuty roams the Egyptian Afterlife searching for a peace only you can help him find. Forest Whitaker lends his iconic voice in the role of Djehuty.

Horus

A stark contrast to your past mentor, Loki, Horus exudes compassion. His own past suffering and longing for his parents has given him a fondness for mortals. Beneath his polite and composed exterior lies a profoundly scarred soul, which simmers with an intense fury directed at his foes. If left unchecked, it could unleash a merciless, destructive force. Together with your ally gods, guiding him towards a more benevolent path is crucial to peace in the realms.

Loki

Your former mentor from Asgard’s Wrath, and now your primary foe. Loki is the Norse trickster god and a master manipulator with intelligence, charisma, and a biting sense of humor. Elusive throughout the game, his chaos can be felt across the realms through his Anomalies. His end goal is clear: harness an ancient power, tear apart the realms for his amusement, and unleash a world-ending event known as Ragnorak. It seems as though you are the only thing standing in his way. A fan-favorite from AW1, Matthew Mercer reprises his role once again as Loki.

Gaining and Training Followers

As you traverse the realms, you’ll need the help of loyal warrior companions to solve puzzles, aid you in battle, and serve as powerful mounts across all sorts of hazards your mortal playable characters can’t pass. Just like in AW1, you’ll encounter special animals on your quests that you can convert into these warrior followers. However, the follower AI system has been completely revamped for Asgard’s Wrath 2, allowing you to grow your relationship with them, build up their skill trees, and learn more about their backstories. To make them even more effective in battle, skill points allow you to mold your followers to be stronger fighters, better healers, and more—giving you the ultimate ability to tailor combat to your playstyle.

Subira

A giant panther and protector whose brashness and confidence makes her very independent. Her unique shadow-bending abilities make her a deadly assassin you’ll be glad to have by your side.

Pa-akhet

A fierce and loyal eagle, healing and helping you until the end with the ability to use the winds however he pleases to help you in combat and puzzles or to let you glide in the skies.

Viggo

A strong, rambunctious boar with a viking-like joy in combat who can help you traverse pools of lava and provide you with a grub or two with special abilities to aid your quests.

Mereret

A tough and wizened hippo with the ability to bend curses to her will. She can carry the player over watery hazards and clear paths blocked by cursed barriers.

Wahka

A young and headstrong baboon who spent a lifetime guarding a tomb and now aches to see the world outside. He can summon totems that you can use to lift heavy items or grapple in puzzles.

AAA RPG Experience

Asgard’s Wrath 2 features a number of RPG mechanics, activities, and options to enhance the overall gameplay experience=.

Crafting

Players can craft new items and upgrade their weapons and armor with resources they’ve gathered along their journey by visiting The Hideout. This crafting hub hosts several specialized vendors such as Ptah, for upgrading weapons, armor, and follower gear; Bes, who crafts essential consumable items; and Castor and Polydeuces, who create bait for hunting and cook delicious dishes.

Hunting

All the worlds in Asgard’s Wrath 2 are full of wildlife and creatures you can hunt for various purposes. Craft bait and hunt down apex predators who drop specific loot that you can use to upgrade armor, weapons, and potions. You can lay traps as well, allowing for ultimate control over your hunting and combat experience.

Cooking

New to Asgard’s Wrath 2, cooking is a valuable skill that lets players combine different ingredients to boost HP and provide additional stat benefits. As you explore the Great Sand Sea, you’ll collect anything from herbs to eggs to pomegranates. You can bring it all back to The Hideout to cook into different recipes that give you different health and regenerative boosts, as well as different perks related to your followers.

Gathering Materials

As you explore the game’s vast world, you can mine, loot raider encampments, and dive deep into hidden temples for unique treasure. You’ll come across resources like ore, flowers, herbs, mushrooms, and more, which are essential for cooking and crafting.

Fishing

Nestled in the living worlds of Asgard’s Wrath 2 are Oases—little havens in the deserts and lands where you can pull out your fishing rod, grab your bait, and fish for a variety of fish, from the massive Nile Perches to the beautiful Osirian Carp and more.

Customization and Avatars

Players will have plenty of options to customize their Cosmic Guardian including armor, titles, emotes, body dyes, medals, nameplate backgrounds, and even adornments. You can show off your epic player characters in Story Mode by leaving an avatar for others to discover. Place these avatars near secret items to share hints or put them in hard to reach areas just for fun. Every time you visit The Inbetween, you’ll see a variety of Cosmic Guardian avatars representing other players that you can interact with.

Uncharted Rifts

An all-new dungeon mode that you can enter at any point in the game. Featuring agility rooms, trap rooms, combat rooms, treasure rooms, and more, the Uncharted Rifts are waiting for you to conquer and climb the leaderboard. They’re procedurally generated, which means the experience is different every time. Bring new hero loadouts and find exclusive loot to bring back to the base game. Gear up for Divine Trials—boss battles within the Rifts that will test your combat abilities to their limits.

In the Uncharted Rifts, you can complete special challenges set by the Weavers, improve your runs with boons called Revelations, and leave your mark with Divine and Dread Souls. These souls are afterimages that act as companions to aid others in their dungeon run or as mini-bosses to try to make the Uncharted Rifts even more challenging. The possibilities are endless.

Loki Anomalies

Across the realms, Loki is causing chaos and forming tears across the fabric of reality. As a result, the realms are plagued with otherworldly disturbances. As Cosmic Guardian, you must take on these challenges and fix these rifts in the fabric of space and time.

Loki Anomalies can appear in any place and any time. These mind-bending disturbances will appear in otherwise normal environments, seemingly at random. Jump into the anomalies and conquer them to earn rewards.

There are multiple types of anomalies that players will encounter in the realms. Some will require you to locate and retrieve unique treasure from faraway lands. Others will require you to enter a portal to an ethereal space to clear out invading enemies within. Close these tears to heal the fabric of the universe and take your reward.

Mixed Reality Anomalies on Quest 3

Quest 3 players get exclusive access to Mixed Reality Anomalies. Jumping through these portals transports the player from the game world back to their own, where waves of beasts spawn through portals that appear in your walls, ceiling, and even under the furniture. Thanks to full-color stereoscopic Passthrough on Quest 3, it feels like the beasts are right there in the room with you as you avoid their attacks and battle back in intense physical combat.

Cosmic Events

Cosmic Events are time-gated challenges that appear throughout the world of Asgard’s Wrath 2. Complete the challenges to earn points and unlock exclusive rewards, such as armor, titles, emotes, Guardian body dyes, medals, nameplate backgrounds, adornments, and much more. Each limited-time Cosmic Event has a different theme, from seasonal holidays to specific enemy factions to critter takeovers and so many more. Keep an eye out because the objectives and rewards constantly change.

Cosmic Community Conquests

In Cosmic Community Conquests, players choose to align themselves with Chaos or Order and compete to see which side can complete the Conquest objective. In addition to bragging rights, the victors receive extra special rewards. But don’t worry: Even the losing side of a Cosmic Community Conquest gets some fun goodies, so no matter the outcome, you won’t walk away empty-handed.
