‘Batman: Arkham Shadow’ Wins Best VR/AR Game at The Game Awards
It’s been less than two months since Batman: Arkham Shadow launched on Meta Quest 3 and 3S, and the reviews are in: Camouflaj has a hit on its hands. And today, it adds another accolade to an already impressive roster as Batman: Arkham Shadow takes home the win for Best VR/AR Game at The Game Awards 2024.
And what’s good gets even better: Over the next few weeks, Camouflaj will release a series of free updates to the game. It started with November’s rollout of v1.1, which included more than 1,300 optimizations, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements. The devs also added new Game Over sequences, phone numbers to scan, and voice messages in the Batcave; the ability to play back Echo voiceovers from the Database; and more points of interest to scan in Detective Vision.
With update v1.2 this month, Camouflaj will add localized VO for French, Italian, German, Spanish (both Latin America and Spain), Korean, and Japanese. Players will also see additional Challenge Maps and the return of the Character Viewer—a fan favorite from the previous Arkham games—to learn more about each of the characters’ backstories. The devs will also continue to squash bugs and add polish.
In the New Year, Camouflaj will roll out update v1.3, which will introduce a New Game+ mode, add new Predator Challenge maps, expand the lore with a new post-credits scene, and add some MR-enhanced content.
Many of these improvements and new features are the direct result of player feedback, and we’re grateful to the community for their passion and commitment to the cause. To report any issues or even just chat about the game with fellow fans, please join our Discord.
Congratulations to the teams at Camouflaj and Oculus Studios on today’s win, as well as to their fellow nominees: Arizona Sunshine® Remake from Vertigo Games, Asgard’s Wrath 2 from Sanzaru Games, Metal: Hellsinger VR from Lab42 and The Outsiders, and Metro Awakening from Vertigo.
