The Master Returns: ‘Beat Saber’ OST 8 Available Now

Sleigh bells may be jingling but let’s be honest: Those things are seriously short on bass, and we need something more intense. The holidays are approaching, and your first gift arrives right now: a brand-new Original Soundtrack in Beat Saber. OST 8 just dropped, so get your headset out and start swinging.

This free update features new tracks from Beat Saber legends like Camellia, Teminite, and Boom Kitty as well as returning favorites DragonForce and Lindsey Stirling. OST 8 also marks the introduction of auvic and dark cat, two new artists that will further expand the stable of Beat Saber’s signature sounds:

OST 8 is a multi-genre release, running from the intense and iconic power metal of DragonForce to Lindey Stirling’s mesmerizing violin. “Overload” and “STARLIGHT (feat. juu)” were composed in collaboration with the beatmappers themselves, allowing the artists to iterate on their work with the game developers to make the sort of singular musical experience that you can only get in Beat Saber. Of course, that sort of Beat Saber-specific composing comes naturally to an artist like Camellia, who’s back with their unique blend of complex rhythms, and innovative sound design.

Anyone who was around for OST 7 will notice the return of an old villain: “The Master” was such a hit last year that Teminite and Boom Kitty had to bring him back for a second round of pulse-pounding challenge. The Master’s stinging defeat from last year hasn’t blunted his edge, and fans can expect another intense, difficult track from his repeat appearance.

There’s work going on behind the scenes, too. A new OST drop is always an opportunity for the team to experiment with new features, and this release is no different: Beat Games studio will be sharing more exciting details from the OST 8 development in their upcoming Dev Bloq #4. Stay tuned.
