Plan Your Assault: ‘Breachers’ Launches Highly Anticipated Competitive Update, Season Zero Now Live

Today’s the day hardcore Breachers players and dedicated competitive VR FPS fans have been waiting for: The game’s free Competitive Update is finally here! This highly anticipated update introduces a major overhaul to the game by implementing a formalized ranking system for the intense 5v5 tactical shooter with the debut of its inaugural Season Zero.

There are ranks to achieve and rewards to earn as you sharpen your skills against other players who are on their own quests for glory. Season Zero marks the beginning of the now fully competitive-ready mode. It’ll be tracked and ranked just as a normal season would, and the developers at Triangle Factory may tweak some things as it goes on—for now.

Now that the Competitive Update is out, that means a new “Competitive” match option will be available in the main menu. While waiting for a competitive match, you can freely explore the rest of the main menu options like tweaking your skins, practicing at the shooting range, or even hopping into a casual game of Team Deathmatch to loosen up before the real battle begins.

In the spirit of great, compelling competition, when you’re playing in a ranked Competitive match, there are some differences from regular Quickplay. For starters, there are no ties. In the case of an initial tie, the highest scoring team picks a side for one more round to decide the winner. If the scores themselves are also tied, then sides are chosen randomly for a single sudden death round for the whole match win.

In order to earn placement and your initial rank, you need to complete five Competitive matches first—at which point your initial rank will be calculated based on your performance. From that point on, every match will contribute to your rise or fall on the ladder. The ranks go from Bronze to Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grand-Master, and all the way up to Global Champion.

The more ranked matches you play and the higher your rank goes during the season will determine which rewards you qualify for—which means the more you play, the better you get, and the greater the rewards that you receive.

The free Competitive Update is live now with Season Zero, which means the rankings are wide open. Now’s the time to squad up and plan your assault to claim your spot on the ladder and shoot for the rank of Global Champion. Grab Breachers on the Meta Quest Store today!
