A labor of love from Madrid, Spain-based indie studio Pentadimensional Games and developer Alfonso del Cerro, Megaton Rainfall puts you in the shoes of an indestructible hero and pits you against an alien invasion. Those superpowers come with a catch, though, as your extraordinary speed and lethal energy blasts take an inevitable toll on the world around you. This unique twist on a larger-than-life genre has been thrilling players since 2017, and today, we’re excited to share that the game PC Gamer called “one of the best VR games you can play right now” has officially launched on Rift!

In addition to upping the frame rate to consistently hit 90 fps, today’s release includes some new features for VR gamers to enjoy. “Along with the PC VR release, we’ve added gesture controls, so you can now fly and shoot energy blasts by doing superhero moves with Touch,” says del Cerro. “We also added a Free Roam mode that’s unlocked when you finish the main game.”

Given that you play as an invulnerable hero and enjoy an immense sense of power, Pentadimensional Games decided to introduce a health bar for the city to present a balanced challenge. “Also, letting the player kill thousands of civilians without consequences would give us bad karma,” del Cerro adds. “That’s not the kind of game that we wanted to create.”

You can break the sound barrier as you fly with unprecedented freedom and explore a life-sized Earth filled with procedurally generated cities. And while you should be careful to manage the trail of destruction in your wake, you can also unlock a special achievement if you find a way to circumvent your own apparent immortality—so don’t be afraid to push things to the limit.
