Free ‘DrakkenRidge’ Expansion Adds New Island, More Quests, and Much More, Out Now on Meta Quest
DrakkenRidge is an epic single-player retro-style VR action-adventure set in a world of myth and magic. Leveraging a 3D pixel-art inspired visual style, the game is packed with quests to complete, characters to meet, and enemies to defeat. Today, developer Garage Collective (Shock Troops, Stones of Harlath), are releasing the Maruk’s Hammer expansion, which is an entirely free DLC designed to infuse the game with a ton of new content for new and returning players.
For more insight on the game itself and its development, check out our detailed interview with the creators.
In the new expansion, you have been sent by the Dux of DrakkenRidge to Maruk’s Hammer, a distant Dwarven island, which is home to the mythical Forge that allows smiths to produce weapons imbued with magical powers. Mysterious invaders are attacking the island, so you must help the Dwarves defend their homeland and defeat the enemies threatening the land.
The expansion includes new weapons like a talking, possessed sword, a brand-new island, a new main quest with multiple steps for completion, new side quests, new enemies, like a frost dragon, new items to craft, and much more.
Rather than using billboard-style sprites like you see in classic early ‘90s era first-person computer games, in which the sprite enemies were flat 2D images that simply rotated around the environment to face the players, the art style in DrakkenRidge features fully animated 3D low-poly character models, allowing for immersive and dynamic gameplay.
The new content in Maruk’s Hammer is accessible to players at any time after completing the tutorial segment of the game. Check out DrakkenRidge for yourself right now on Meta Quest!
