‘Escaping Wonderland’ Continues the ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ Saga on Meta Quest VR

Four years ago, Down the Rabbit Hole took us…well, down the rabbit hole and straight into Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland. Taking place pre-Alice, Down the Rabbit Hole followed a young girl as she searched Wonderland for her lost pet, Patches, and encountered the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, the Queen of Hearts, and other infamous denizens of Carroll’s world.

This fall, developer Cortopia Studios returns with Escaping Wonderland on Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro—and preorders are available now!

A standalone adventure, Escaping Wonderland isn’t a sequel to Down the Rabbit Hole per se. You’ll play as Molly, solving puzzles, guiding her through (and potentially out of) Wonderland, and helping her regain her memory in the process. In addition to some familiar faces, Cortopia promises a whole new set of characters to meet and locations to explore.

If you played Down the Rabbit Hole, you’ll certainly feel at home in Escaping Wonderland. Like its predecessor, players literally go “down the rabbit hole” as they explore, with Escaping Wonderland’s myriad scenes arrayed in one long and unbroken spiral of Moss-style dioramas that—by the end—stretches hundreds of feet below the player. Even better, you can enter these dioramas and see them from Molly’s perspective, taking them from shoebox-scale to life-size.

It’s a brilliant only-in-VR manipulation of scale that makes Wonderland truly come alive. Four years since release, Down the Rabbit Hole is still one of the most acclaimed games on the Meta Quest Platform, and Escaping Wonderland promises to be a longer and more ambitious sequel.

Escaping Wonderland releases this fall. Get ready to return to a world where nothing is quite as it seems—except when it is, and even then, it might not be.

Check out Escaping Wonderland in the Meta Quest Store, and preorder it today to secure a 10% discount off the $19.99 USD launch price.
