Feel The Breeze in ‘Everdream Valley,’ Now Available On Meta Quest
If your perfect summer getaway involves goats playing soccer, you’re in luck. Everdream Valley VR from developer Mooneaters hits Meta Quest today, giving you the chance to slide a headset on and retreat to a place where the grass is green, the wind is brisk, and the animals are just a little bit weirder than you might guess.
In Everdream Valley VR, you’re a kid on summer break with a cozy farm to attend to, growing crops, collecting resources, repairing the homestead, catching bugs, digging for treasures, or cooking up delicious meals. We all know how calming the simple rhythms of virtual rural life can be, but there’s something different about doing it all in VR, where you can pluck weeds, harvest ripe tomatoes, or gently flick your line into a pond and wait for a bite using your own hands.
For Everdream Valley VR co-designer Marek Maruszczak, Quest was the perfect platform to allow players to immerse themselves in their little summer paradise.
“Cozy Games are all about the vibe,” he says. “No rush, no stress—just a world full of small joys waiting around every corner. And VR is the ultimate escape pod. The animals, the plants, the landscapes—they’re all literally within arm’s reach. You can lift a chicken, pet an alpaca, milk a cow, and shear a sheep. You can play fetch with a dog or dangle a cat toy like a true feline entertainer. You can chase butterflies… or face off against a goose in a dramatic showdown. The choice is yours.”

The original Everdream Valley took place entirely with a third-person camera, and so bringing the game to VR was a major challenge, but a rewarding one. The team had to build most of the interactions and mechanics from scratch to support the new perspective as well as the Quest controllers, and what they wound up with was a game that truly let the player sink into every little moment the farm had to offer.
“Turns out, slicing carrots in the air like a real chef feels way better than clicking a button,” says Maruszczak. “Milking cows in VR? A visual delight. Especially for anyone who doesn’t know what you are doing. That said, adapting a third-person game for first-person VR came with its challenges—some original mechanics (like the magical animal-herding flute) relied heavily on the third-person camera. But we tackled everything head-on and, honestly, a lot of the gameplay ended up even more fun this way.”
For Maruszczak, bringing the game’s animals to life was one of the most exciting parts of building their game for VR. Everdream Valley features cows, pigs, ducks, alpacas, sheep, bees, deer, boars, butterflies, wolves, mice, snails, and more. You can feed, scratch, and pet your critters with your own hands, getting to know their little quirks as you take care of the creatures that share the farm with you.

They will even come to you in your dreams. Some of them might be gigantic, some of them might be acting differently, and some of them might be talking to you, giving you guidance on what you need to do during the day.
“Animals are my favorite part of the original game,” says Maruszczak. “And now I can pet my favorite alpaca from any angle. I can spook her, shear her, or hold two chickens at once and pretend they’re kissing. Please don’t judge me.”
Just remember to watch out for geese. Never trust a goose. Chickens are questionable.

Everdream Valley VR is available on Meta Quest now for $19.99 USD. If you find yourself a little stressed, remember: There’s a place you can go. And if you want to help Mooneaters continue to build out the game, you can also join the discord.
