‘FORM’ Over Function: Charm Games Brings Surreal Narrative and Casual Puzzles to Rift
Today, we’re excited to share that FORM—the game that UploadVR called “VR puzzling at its transformative best”—is now available for Rift on the Oculus Store. Even better, you can get it at a 20% discount for a limited time!
Set in the Alaskan wilderness, FORM lets you inhabit the mind of brilliant physicist Dr. Devin Eli. From Mindful Laboratories’ secluded research facility, you’ll explore surreal memories and solve puzzles to unlock the mystery of an ancient artifact—or wind up trapped in your past.

“VR is all about being transported to a place that can’t exist in reality,” says Charm Games Co-Founder & Studio Director Alan Jernigan. “In FORM, the world and the puzzles are built from the protagonist’s dreams and memories. It’s a place that could only exist in the imagination. We wanted to give players the chance to see this world first-hand, and building it in VR is the only way we could do that.”

FORM levels-up the immersion with continually shifting geometry, dramatic soundscapes, and breathtaking visuals. From day one, Co-Founder & Creative Director Derek Young implemented a clear vision to use shape, light, and color to capitalize on VR’s unique strengths and let the environments come to life around the player. The team also tapped 18-year industry veteran Cory Hawthorne as FORM’s composer and sound designer.
“Most teams our size can’t afford to have a dedicated sound designer or composer, but we knew early on that sound and music are huge parts of great VR experiences,” explains Jernigan. “We made it a priority to bring Cory in, and it really worked out. He’s one of the best in the business and a delight to work with.”

Looking ahead, Charm Games is in early development for its next VR project—which should be equally stylized, engaging, and committed to VR.
“I think VR is going to take us places no one has imagined yet—places that look and feel entirely new and of themselves,” Jernigan notes. “Those impossible places are what drew me to VR in the first place, and they’re what keep me excited for the future of VR.”
We can’t wait to see what that future holds.
