Horizon Worlds Spotlight: kaceymon
Welcome back to our weekly spotlight on the people building for Horizon Worlds and their amazing creations.
Last week, we learned some of the basics of creating objects (like a mailbox) for new worlds, and how to make them stand out, by exploring Ashes2Ashes2’s Build a Box. This week, we talked to kaceymon about making worlds that celebrate the important parts of our lives—like the bedrooms we had when we were kids and, of course, birthday parties.
As a technology-loving entrepreneur, I have more than 15 years of experience doing multimedia art. About three years ago, I began to dabble in entertainment, influencing, and content creation, and eventually, all three blended into one thanks to VR.
I started my gaming video creator channel Kaceymon in late 2020, and soon after, Meta Quest 2 started getting lots of buzz. I saw an opportunity to make my channel unique, and at the same time, the opportunity to do art and build social connections in VR during the pandemic was just too rich to pass up. Plus I just fell in love with VR the second I got my hands on Quest 2.
My past, present, and future. My art has always been my outlet for expressing myself, particularly when I’ve faced life challenges that I felt were silencing me. When I build in Horizon Worlds, I feel like I have a safe outlet for working through my problems.
These days, my friends and the experiences I have all the time in VR influence and inspire my creations. And while I’ve spent most of my life recreating other people’s dreams in my art, now I’m using my own life as inspiration for the experiences I’m building for others.
I want them to walk away with a feeling of familiarity, and I want people to wonder if what I built was designed using professional tools like Unity rather than Horizon Worlds creation tools. People often provide feedback on both of those questions.
My world building began as a hobby and has now spawned a brand new career.
Before I got my Quest 2, my children and I were struggling. But the Horizon Worlds community helped me combine my many different skills and start something entirely new. Since then, my VR adventures have helped me get involved in multiple monetization programs, have gotten me commissions to build for others, and countless other opportunities as well. I look at building in Horizon Worlds as a way of life, not just a new career.

Collaboration is key because community is everything in Horizon Worlds. A friend brought me into Horizon Worlds in late 2020, and I immediately started working on collaborative building projects.
In 2021, a building partner and I won honorable mention in the #LaunchersCompetition thanks to our collaboration. And most recently, I was proud to collaborate on a new club build for two others. It’s the best feeling to be able to work alongside friends and enjoy myself while doing it.
Don't hesitate—jump in! Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never built a thing in your life or if you have a degree in development. Anyone can build the world of their dreams in Horizon Worlds.
When in doubt, ask the community! There’s no shortage of helpful hands, so simply ask and you shall receive.
I believe that Horizon Worlds is the future. It’s created a new development language that allows anyone to start creating, regardless of their experience. It’s easy to use, and its quick learning curve has resulted in new opportunities being created.
Horizon Worlds has the potential to be a place where people can get training, find work opportunities, and make new friends, all wrapped into one neat package. Anyone can become a success regardless of who they are or where they are in life. Its potential is virtually limitless. I’m living proof.
I believe VR is the future of the metaverse.
VR is a source of entertainment, social activity, learning, and career opportunities for people from all walks of life. There’s really no limits to what can be accomplished and created in VR.
My favorite is Horizon Worlds, and Tilt Brush is a close second. I’ll always be wherever I can create.
