Get ‘LES MILLS BODYCOMBAT’ With New Meta Quest 2 & 3 Fitness Bundles
It’s been two years since the launch of LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT on the Meta Quest Platform, bringing the Les Mills brand and its high-energy BODYCOMBAT workouts into VR. During that time, we’ve seen more and more people embrace the power of Quest as a workout partner. On May 28, developer Odders Lab will release its first-ever paid DLC, introducing new workouts, new environments, and a new mechanic to mix things up. And for folks in the US who are in the market for a new headset, we’re thrilled to announce not one, but two limited-time fitness bundles that include LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT—a $29.99 USD value.*
Available in the US on meta.com now through June 30, the Meta Quest 3 x LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT Fitness Bundle includes a 128GB Quest 3, Active Straps (for Touch Plus Controllers), and a copy of LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT for $539.99 USD. Or you could opt for the more affordable Meta Quest 2 x LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT Fitness Bundle, which includes a 128GB Quest 2, the Quest 2 Active Pack, and a copy of LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT for just $229.99 USD.
And there’s more! On May 28, Odders Lab will launch the first-ever paid DLC for LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT, which adds eight new workouts, new environments, and a new Power Strike mechanic. For $7.99 USD, owners of the base game will unlock nearly 90 minutes of new content to help them destroy calories as they punch, kick, block, and strike.
To celebrate today’s news, we sat down with Odders Lab Chief Strategy Officer Jaime Pichardo Garcia for his take and a glimpse at what’s in store for the future.
Jaime Pichardo Garcia: Being a very active soul, I’ve always been physically active, practicing sports like basketball and tennis, but also hitting the gym regularly. Since I’ve always been interested in tech, I very clearly remember trying out VR with Beat Saber in 2017 at a gaming event in Prague, and I immediately fell in love with it.
A couple of months went by and I got myself my first Oculus Rift—and got hooked on active games like Beat Saber and The Thrill of the Fight, which are still among my favorites, of course. At the time, I had no idea this could actually be considered fitness in a way, or even that soon there was an entire industry to be created around fitness in VR.
Two years later in 2019, I joined Odders Lab to launch OhShape, and in 2022, we joined forces with Les Mills to launch LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT on the Meta Quest Store, which has been part of my weekly routines since, especially when traveling. Yes, I always carry my passport, phone, wallet, and my Quest with me everywhere I go. :)
JPG: I believe VR fitness has long been validated for those who’ve tried it, but there’s still a long way to go until people outside the VR scene actually realize it, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to get VR fitness into people’s minds than a bundle offering! I mean, having your own fitness device at home (or everywhere you go) at this price point, with top-level workout programming by Les Mills and a gamified fitness experience like nothing you’ve done before, is just a steal!
JPG: It. Just. Works. And it’s so much fun! I love the reaction of people after they’ve tried it, with a sweaty face and a big smile on. It’s the perfect complementary workout for those who already work out regularly, and it’s even more powerful for those who don’t have the access, for whatever reason, to a quality gym, or who might not have the time or the will to go outside and workout. There are definitely some clear personas who benefit greatly from VR fitness at home, and advancements in gamification, tracking, customization, and social interaction are going to make VR fitness a really compelling fitness complement for everyone.
JPG: I’ve been doing Les Mills programs and in particular BODYCOMBAT for over 15 years myself, and we’ve managed to blend the tech advancements of VR and the 50+ years of fitness heritage of Les Mills to create a fitness experience that you will enjoy, feel empowered by, and want to come back for more, for a lower price than many other club memberships around. Top quality workout programs by the best fitness coaches in the world right in your home—I can’t imagine a reason not to be excited about it!
JPG: It’s always hard to pick one, but I always enjoy a challenge, so I’ll have to say Power Strike 4. It’s advanced, it includes a killer squat section that will light your quads on fire, and it’s right around 20 minutes, which to me is the perfect duration.
JPG: There are five advanced and three intermediate workouts—all of them include the new Power Strike, which people will absolutely love. These workouts follow a new structure with a bit of a story with an integrated warmup specific to each workout, and they all take place in the new arena featuring golden lions that will make you want to roar every time you hit that Power Strike with all your might!
JPG: This has been in our minds for a long time, and we’ve finally gotten to make it happen! Our players have always loved the final blue target at the end of each track, and we thought: What if we could add in this sensation more often? So our design team started thinking of the three must-haves:
- It needs to be different
- It has to feel powerful
- It must be challenging
And that’s how the new target came to life, where players will have to hit it harder in order to break it and get extra bonus points according to the power in their punch. It includes a new ripple animation that will come out from the player’s base, making them feel mighty and powerful.
JPG: Since we launched in February 2022, we’ve launched eight free updates, always adding new features, environments, and a total of 30 additional free workouts. We have big plans for the app, and we’re putting even more resources to keep upping the quality of the experience for everyone moving forward.
For $29.99 USD, the current version of the app has incredible value already, and we want to ensure we build a sustainable business to bring the XR fitness experience of our dreams to reality in the near future. Paid DLCs will help us get there faster and better and will allow us to put even more resources into each update.
JPG: I’m extremely excited for our plans! We have several themed DLCs in mind for the next 12 to 18 months, and we’re also currently working on a new approach to our Monthly Challenges. I can’t say much as of now, but I can say it includes: exclusive workouts, tons of prizes, community activations around the globe, and new ways of challenging your fitness journey with VR.
JPG: The urge to put on a headset and work out! LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT is an amazing fitness experience, and Quest 2 and 3 are fantastic devices for fitness at an unbeatable price. Get yours and bring your friends along because progressing on your fitness journey with others is an incredible experience.
JPG: Let us know what you think of the app, and do send us any ideas you’d like to see in LES MILLS XR BODYCOMBAT! We’re working really hard to build the best XR fitness experience, and we love hearing from our community on how to make it better and get more people to move.
