Meta Horizon Worlds v124 Release Notes
Meta Horizon Worlds v124 is here! This week, we focused on making it easier to learn about and use Worlds’ safety controls and increasing the number of gameplay tags that can be assigned to objects when building. Let’s dive in!
Quality of Life Improvements
General
- We’ve made it easier for people to use safety controls when they’ve initiated the Pause feature.
- Hovering over the nameplate of another person while you’re in Pause will open a shortcut menu to mute, block, or report them.
- While in your safety settings, there’s new educational content that explains more about the available safety controls and how to use them, including how to Pause, set a Personal Boundary, control volume, change voice mode, mute, and poll to remove someone.
- When you enter Pause, it’s now easier to access your sound, safety, and profile settings.
Creators
- You can now add multiple tags to an object in the Attributes pane of the object’s Property Panel.
- Tags are used to determine how objects interact with one another. For instance, a collision event may only be fired if an object tagged “solid” collides with another object tagged “smashable.”
- Creators can now give each object up to five tags (previously limited to one) in the Attributes pane of the Property Panel, and each tag can have a maximum of 20 characters.
- That means worlds can feature more diverse and specific interactions between different objects, creating exciting opportunities for emergent gameplay. For example, a vase could now be tagged “smashable,” “ceramic,” and “rare,” giving the creator the ability to script a much more nuanced (and seemingly expensive) outcome.
Known Issues
General
- Grabbable objects will apply a physics force to the avatar.
Creators
- There’s an error in the sequence of scripting events regarding player entry, causing the “player enters” event to fire before the “world starts” event.
- Scaling an object really small on one axis while grouped makes the object jump to world origin.
- Changing an object’s color via the Property Panel changes the object’s material to plastic if the object’s material was previously set to unlit or glow.
- Grab anchor movement isn’t undone when a creator tries to undo their last action.
