Meta Horizon Worlds v125 Release Notes: New Time Spent Controls for Teens

|
|

Meta Horizon Worlds v125 is here! This week, we added new time spent controls to our existing suite of parental supervision controls, and we have a friendly reminder about the Thanks effect and experience in Worlds.

Introducing Time Spent Controls in Parental Supervision

To help teens find balance and create healthy boundaries, we’re expanding our existing suite of parental supervision tools and introducing time limits in Worlds. With time limits, parents and guardians can manage how much time their teen can spend in Worlds each day, set a schedule for teens where they have more time on certain days like weekends, and set scheduled breaks to specify when teens cannot access Worlds to help them stay focused, for example 8:00 am – 3:00 pm on school days.

As a reminder, parents and guardians can connect with their teen’s account via the Meta Quest App or Family Center. This is also where parents and guardians can see how their teen is using their Quest headset and get tips on how to help teens have a more positive virtual experience.

Don’t Forget About Thanks

We previously launched the ability to send thanks as a way to express your gratitude towards others who foster enjoyable experiences in Worlds. It’s something you can do without being nearby or friends with someone and lets you recognize them for their positive vibes, helpfulness, or talent they exhibit.

People who haven’t used or seen the Thanks effect recently (or maybe they’ve never used it) will now see a notification when in a world where someone nearby receives a thanks. This notification will explain what the Thanks effect is and share ways to learn more about using it.

To send thanks to someone:

  1. Navigate to the People panel and hover over the person you want to thank.
  2. Click “More,” and then “Send Thanks.”
  3. From the pop-up window, select the behavior you want to recognize in the other person and click “Send.”

If you send thanks to someone nearby, watch what happens once they receive your thanks!

Quality of Life Improvements

General

  • To unify the achievement system experience and drive consistency, we’re changing all mentions of “achievements” to “quests” across Worlds, including for creators while in Build Mode. There’s no action needed from creators related to this update.

Bug Fixes

General

  • Fixed a bug where changing the “Creator name tags” setting to “Off” would hide all name tags.

Known Issues

General

  • Grabbable objects will apply a physics force to the avatar.
  • Grab points are sometimes difficult to see or grab.

Creators

  • There’s an error in the sequence of scripting events regarding player entry, causing the “player enters” event to fire before the “world starts” event.
  • Scaling an object really small on one axis while grouped makes the object jump to world origin.
  • Changing an object’s color via the Property Panel changes the object's material to plastic if that object’s material was previously set to unlit or glow.Grab anchor movement isn’t undone when a creator tries to undo their last action.
