Meta Horizon Worlds v93 Release Notes

Meta Horizon Worlds v93 is here. This release includes updates to the Asset Library design and a sneak peek at some control changes that will be shipping in v94 next week. We’ve also included status updates on the issues that v91 introduced. We’re holding ourselves accountable for those and will continue to share progress here until the issues are resolved.

Coming Soon in v94: Updated Controls

Next week we’ll be making some improvements to the default controls in Worlds. More to come on this in the v94 release notes, but for you dedicated players who want to start warming up your fingers, we’d like to give you an early heads up on what’s around the bend. When joining a new world, we want you to be able to get right into the fun, without needing to readjust and learn new controls each time you world hop. So we’re updating some default controls for everyone to make this possible. Namely, we’ll be moving Jump to A and adding some new remapping options in User Settings for those who prefer jumping with the Right Thumbstick. With this change, we’re also improving several ways Avatars interact with and move in their environments including sliding, movement, throwing and more. More on this next week with v94.

Quality of Life Improvements

We’ve made some updates to the Asset Library design that will begin rolling out this week. When Asset Library launched, there were far fewer assets and we featured large asset cards to show the full thumbnail image in great detail. Now with the number of publicly-available assets growing, the previous design was inefficient—Creators were spending too much time scrolling to find the correct asset.

We’re doubling the number of assets that are visible at one time, while maintaining the level of detail creators need. We believe this will make it easier for creators to browse the library and find the assets that they want.

The improved design:

  • Increases the number of visible assets from six to 12
  • Increases the number of columns from three to four
  • Changes the aspect ratio of cards from 1:1 to 4:3

Bug Fixes

Creators

  • Fixed an issue originally identified in v91, where turning physics on and off for an object would not behave properly.
  • Fixed a bug impacting Arena Clash clone worlds and worlds using the PvP template, in which people were unable to interact with triggers, armor, etc.
  • Change of state of physics objects should now work as intended in both Edit and Visit Modes.
  • When running Worlds via horizon.exe on PC, the microphone should now pick up audio and the Avatar’s mouth should move when talking in front of the mirror. [UserVoice]
  • We fixed a bug so that triggers should fire for tagged objects accurately.
  • When scripting with environment gizmos, the experience in Edit Mode now matches Visit Mode.
  • A bug has been fixed that was causing a person’s Avatar to become invisible after suspending, resuming, or doffing and donning the headset.

Known Issues

General

  • Leaderboards aren’t loading in worlds correctly and appearing blank. [UserVoice]
  • Gravity isn’t set properly when first entering Arena Clash.
  • Avatar body/skin sometimes shows through clothes and hats. This is also causing flickering. [UserVoice]
  • User stats and XP are resetting in multiple worlds.
  • User will remain invisible if another user changes their personal boundary while they’re in it.
  • Nametags aren’t appearing centered above some Avatars.

Creators

  • Some creators are unable to travel to their worlds in Build Mode.
  • Switching the ‘Global’ option on sound gizmos off reduces sound quality. [UserVoice]
  • We’re aware of an issue impacting some hosts’ ability to mute guests in events, as well as “phantom” report screens impeding the UI.
  • Center of mass override isn’t working in Visit 2.0 worlds. [UserVoice]
  • If the variable name is a number, the Player Persistent Variable values remain at 0 and don’t update.
  • Avatar movement is sometimes frozen when switching from Build Mode to Preview Mode. [UserVoice]
  • Some worlds aren’t displaying a “Beta” tag in the create menu thumbnail.
  • Some creators are seeing save fail errors and red rings on controllers in Edit Mode.
  • We’re looking into why world complexity for some worlds increased after v92. [UserVoice]
  • Toggling Build Mode frequently can cause Worlds to freeze. Additionally, in worlds with a lot of scripted assets, moving a grouped asset with scripting can freeze the experience. [UserVoice]
