Your Meta Quest Guide to NBA All-Star Weekend

NBA seasons can be long and grueling. Players push themselves to the limit in pursuit of that rarest of prizes: a championship ring. But before the league’s 30 teams hit the home stretch to the playoffs, the best of the best are gathering this weekend in Salt Lake City for the annual NBA All-Star Game. And Meta Quest will be there with a set of hoops-meets-tech-inspired activations.

Head in the Game

During NBA Crossover, a three-day event at the Salt Palace Convention Center, thousands of basketball fans will get a courtside seat to many NBA-branded products and experiences, including programming from current and past NBA players, workshops, live performances, a gaming competition, hoops-related activities, and more.

We’ll have a booth where attendees can strap on a Meta Quest headset and experience what it’s like to sit courtside by viewing an NBA game in VR. They’ll also get a chance to play great titles like GOLF+ and Creed: Rise to Glory and check out the latest NBA and Meta Quest merch and swag. And finally, they’ll get to take away a custom poster representing their very own personalized Basketball DNA.

Dame Time

If you’ve ever wanted to see an NBA superstar team up with a basketball content creator to take on a top TikTok influencer in a knock-down, drag-out Beat Saber competition, you’ll want to be at the NBA Creator House in downtown Salt Lake City on Saturday, February 18. From 2pm to 4pm MT Saturday, eight influencers will square off in a Beat Saber tournament, and the victor will partner with seven-time All-Star Damian Lillard the next day against a surprise guest for ultimate Beat Saber bragging rights—and a rare championship belt.

And before it’s over, everyone on hand will get to enjoy a performance from our surprise Beat Saber and TikTok superstar.

NBA Creator House visitors will also get a chance to try out NBA Arena in Meta Horizon Worlds, a VR broadcast of an NBA game, First Steps, GOLF+, and Creed: Rise of Glory.

The Future of Sports, Media, and Technology

Last but not least, Meta Quest and the NBA will team up to deliver the 2023 NBA All-Star Technology Summit, an invite-only leadership event where some of the brightest minds in sports, media, and technology will come together to discuss the future of their industries. And Meta Quest will be on hand to give attendees demos of our Meta Reality mixed reality system on Meta Quest Pro—including a peek at what stereoscopic color Passthrough looks like.

The NBA has long been seen as one of the most future-forward sports leagues in the world, with innovative technology integrated into all aspects of the game and many players deeply involved in pushing the boundaries of tech investment and education. And we’re honored to be part of this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend.
