Just when you thought VR’s biggest battle royale couldn’t get any bigger, we present to you the all-new Metropolis update! Prepare to drop into a sprawling maze of a city that defies every expectation for new map sizes in POPULATION: ONE. Available from today for free, this update introduces BigBox VR’s largest map ever with brand-new jump pads for increased verticality, multiple city districts, and the debut of a fresh game mode in Metropolis Battle Royale.

Metropolis is an all-new city map with more total square footage than the rest of the entire map combined and a labyrinthine design built for chaos. Plus, its special jump pads will make it easier than ever to launch yourself into the air quickly to take the battle to the skies or reposition yourself in a sticky situation.

To fully take advantage of the new cityscape’s cyberpunk aesthetic, there will also be a Neon Night Mode. This mode will have a 33% chance to appear in each match that will introduce an old school retro-futuristic vibe pulsing with vibrant neon lights across the buildings and skyscrapers. It’s a gorgeous way to take in the sights in between firefights.

Perhaps most exciting of all the shiny new updates is the inclusion of the Metropolis Royale game mode. In this mode, all 18-players will drop down directly into a region that consists entirely of just the new Metropolis city. It’s frantic and intense, but it’s also a great showcase for the increased emphasis on verticality and creativity in combat.

You can check out the all-new Metropolis update in POPULATION: ONE for yourself starting today for free. And if you haven’t already, you can grab the game on the Rift or Quest Platforms for $29.99 USD.
