Prepare to battle hordes of vicious orcs like never before in an all-new VR-exclusive take on the iconic tower defense meets hack ‘n’ slash action game series with Orcs Must Die: By The Blade! This fresh spin on a classic genre releases for the Meta Quest platform on January 22, 2026, but you can pre-order the game now for a discounted price.

The Orcs Must Die series, originally created by Robot Entertainment, is getting the VR adaptation treatment by Teravision Games (Captain ToonHead vs The Punks from Outer Space) with lots of new gameplay mechanics and immersive elements.

For starters, putting players into a first-person VR perspective dramatically increases the immediacy and intensity of combat. Players will swing their weapons physically, block incoming attacks, and reach out to place defenses and traps around their keeps in a much more visceral experience this time around.

Fully free locomotion and hand-tracked combat ensure a much stronger sense of presence and each of the levels and scenarios have been designed entirely for Meta Quest rather than simply ported from past games.

“This game has been a blast to make,” Cesar Solis Galindo, design director for Orcs Must Die: By The Blade, said in a prepared statement. “My favorite thing to do is hitting orcs with the head of their fallen brothers (or any other limb for that matter, haha). It's so fun to be able to get so close when chaos ensues! Building complex combinations of traps and experiencing the explosion of limbs and blood has a familiar but unique feeling, since the orcs in this game will hunt you instead of going straight to the rift. Can’t wait for everyone to play it!”

Orcs Must Die: By The Blade leans into series conventions as well with reimagined items, assets, and enemies, as well as returning characters like Max and Grabby to fight alongside the Order in this all-new campaign. Plus—the campaign is playable entirely in cooperative multiplayer!

Featuring three full chapters spanning 12 total levels, this is a fully-featured Orcs Must Die adventure chock full of progression systems like upgradeable weapons, secrets to uncover, and extra challenges to solve as well.

Make sure and lock down your ticket for adventure with Orcs Must Die: By The Blade and pre-order the game for yourself over on the Meta Horizon store right here.
