Have you ever watched a reality competition show and thought to yourself, “Yeah, I could totally do that,” but never had the chance to prove yourself? Well, then I have some great news for you. The hit show that blends comedic antics with cerebral thinking and creative problem solving, Taskmaster, is entering the VR sphere when Taskmaster VR launches on the Quest platform on June 13. This all-new VR game from Scallywag Arcade, a Draw & Code studio, puts players in the shoes of a contestant on the iconic show and tasks you with impressing the almighty Taskmaster and his assistant.

Taskmaster is a BAFTA-winning and International Emmy-nominated comedy entertainment show that’s aired over 150 episodes to date and it’s still going strong. Every season a new group of comedians is brought on the show to compete by performing seemingly simple tasks in creative and hilarious ways to appease the Taskmaster and his assistant. Soon, you’ll have the privilege to try and prove yourself in Taskmaster VR.

“The world of Taskmaster is perfect for VR” said Niall Taylor, Head of Games at Scallywag Arcade. “Combining the hilarity of the show with the freedom of virtual reality gives players an immersive (and slightly mad) experience”.

Alex Horne, the show’s creator, and Taskmaster’s Assistant said: “Genuinely, this is extraordinary, brilliant and very fun. Also, I've always wanted to be a contestant on Taskmaster so this is great for me as a VR user, except that I will also have my virtual self watching my attempts and undermining my confidence so I may well regret the whole venture after I've had a go”.

Players will immerse themselves in the iconic house from the show and will have the ability to more freely explore everything and everywhere that the contestants have never really been able to go. This is both an emulation of what competing on the show might feel like, and an all-new more freeform interpretation of the world of Taskmaster. In fact, players can even take on the role of the Taskmaster’s Assistant in Creative Mode. This opens up hundreds of interactive objects and the Taskmaster House, letting players create their own tasks.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the show or just someone that loves a good escape room mixed with brain-teasing puzzles and challenges, Taskmaster VR should scratch that itch perfectly when it launches for the Quest platform on June 13.
