The Retirement Age: ‘Walkabout Mini Golf’ to Release New ‘Myst’ DLC Later This Year

Millions of players have deciphered Myst’s puzzles over the last 30 years—but not a single person has managed to bounce a golf ball off the front of the Library and land it in the fountain. That changes later this year, as Cyan and Mighty Coconut team up to release the new Walkabout Mini Golf: Myst DLC on the Meta Quest and Rift Platforms.

“When we thought about iconic locations and compelling gameplay, Myst was right at the top of our list,” said Lucas Martell, executive producer and head of Mighty Coconut. This new 36-hole course—featuring 18 easy mode and 18 hard mode holes—mixes golf and puzzles, for a unique homage to the classic adventure series. Explore settings from across the Myst saga, collect

a series of unique lost balls and a commemorative Myst-themed putter, and do your best not to get lost in the subway maze. Again.

“Generations of players have discovered the now-iconic Myst island, so it only feels natural that we open this virtual mini golf attraction where fans can connect and explore,” said Hannah Gamiel, Development Director at Cyan. Compete with up to four friends, or play solo for that true lost-on-Myst-Island experience.

Walkabout Mini Golf: Myst will be released in the fall of 2022—though if you’re looking to explore a little early, you can always pick up Myst itself on the Meta Quest Platform. And don’t forget, Walkabout Mini Golf: Labyrinth is set to whisk you (or your infant brother) away to the Goblin Kingdom this summer as well. Start practicing your swing.
