Stealth and Action Collide in ‘Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow,’ Out Now for Quest
The original Thief is a legendary and massively influential PC game that helped usher in mechanics and conventions that have become staples in first-person games for decades. Now, Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, is bringing the franchise into VR on Meta Quest for the very first time by putting you in the boots of a cunning street thief named Magpie. This all-new adventure blends the classic stealth-based premise with bold and immersive gameplay to create something truly intense.
We’ve been extremely excited about today’s launch and have already covered the game extensively on the Meta blog, including an in-depth interview with developer Maze Theory’s Chief Creative Officer back in July and another interview with folks from publisher Vertigo Games and Eidos-Montréal in October all about the first-ever gameplay footage of the game running natively on Quest.
One of the hallmarks of the Thief series is its gritty and foreboding steampunk-inspired atmosphere. The game takes place in a dark and dangerous location known simply as The City that’s rife with trouble. You’ll have to stick to the darkness, avoid detection as much as possible, and outmaneuver enemies in real-time using the game’s realistic movement and locomotion mechanics.
As is customary with a Thief game, your arsenal of weapons and tools isn’t limited to just a basic bow and arrows. You’ll eventually gain access to an assortment of arrows to distract, disable, and eliminate threats using the game’s innovative and realistic physics-based archery system. And of course you’ll spend plenty of time climbing and sneaking all around The City.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow is out now on Meta Quest. Before you creep in though, make sure you’re prepared for what’s in store!
