‘Tropico’ and El Presidente Coming to Meta Quest Later This Month

Where some see paradise, you see potential. The island escape of Tropico is wild and untamed, a blank canvas waiting for the inspired (although maybe not enlightened) hand of El Presidente to guide it into the future. Jungle turned to farmland. Mountains turned to mines. Beach turned to beachfront resort.

Later this month, acclaimed city builder series Tropico comes to Meta Quest VR for the first time. Take charge of your own Caribbean paradise and transform it road-by-road, farm-by-farm, and mansion-by-mansion. From empty island to sleepy town to sprawling city, you’ll manage every aspect of your new home over the course of 40 campaign missions (or in the more freeform Sandbox mode).

Build up infrastructure, kindle robust trade relationships with foreign superpowers, entice tourists, and enact edicts to provide a safe home for your citizens. It’s a tough balancing act, managing all of these opposed interests, but you’re El Presidente! Surely you can handle it.

And if not? Well, there are always more underhanded ways to ensure the populace doesn’t take up pitchforks and storm the Palace. If “the people” can’t see that what you’re doing is for their own good, you can always put a thumb on the scale the next time you come up for election. It’s better to be feared than loved, after all.

Tropico’s tongue-in-cheek tone has made it a hit with players for over two decades. And now, thanks to Feral Interactive, El Presidente aims to conquer VR. Featuring a custom-built UI and intuitive gesture-based controls, playing Tropico on Meta Quest gives new meaning to grasping the levers of power.

Do you have what it takes to be El Presidente-for-Life? If you’re ready to book your Caribbean getaway, you can wishlist Tropico in the Meta Quest Store today ahead of its March 28 launch.
