Bright Light City: ‘Walkabout Mini Golf’ Releases New ‘Viva Las Elvis’ Course Today
All you need's a strong heart and a nerve of steel in Viva Las Elvis, the latest course for Walkabout Mini Golf.
Viva Las Elvis is a retrospective of the King of Rock & Roll, set in a dreamlike version of ‘60s and ‘70s Vegas. It’s larger-than-life like Elvis himself, a neon-lit oasis floating in the darkness. Walkabout Mini Golf developer Mighty Coconut brings Elvis’s music to life, setting holes in the infamous Heartbreak Hotel, a wedding chapel, a giant jukebox, through various Presley-themed casino games, his dressing room, and more. You even get to step up to the microphone on stage and impersonate Elvis.
It’s a visual feast, but there’s even more for Elvis fans to discover. You can unlock the usual cosmetics, with Elvis-themed lost balls and a custom putter designed for Viva Las Elvis—but you can also step into the shoes of the King himself, teasing up your hair or growing out your sideburns before hitting the casino floor.

“We had been looking for a way to take our players to Vegas in a unique way, and then the people with Elvis Presley Enterprises approached us—that gave us the perfect spin…allowing us to imagine mini golf in Presley’s Vegas residency heyday. We’ve never gone all in on a music-themed course and this gave us a wild opportunity to pull in instruments, casino games, sound stages, and iconic themes and scenes from Elvis’s songs and films,” said Lucas Martell, creator of Walkabout Mini Golf and head of Mighty Coconut.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a music-centric course without music. For the first time in Walkabout Mini Golf, Mighty Coconut put together a band with live musicians. The resultant score, written by resident composer Chris Reyman and performed on retro instruments, pays tribute to Elvis’s music across the eras.

Whereas Elvis had his TCB Band throughout his Vegas residency, "The VLE Band” went into the studio to perform a pair of rousing compositions by Reyman, highlighting the spirit of ‘60s and ’70s rock ‘n’ roll. The band features Reyman on piano, Josh Robins on guitar, Johnny Vogelsang on electric and upright bass, and Chuck Fischer on drums. Players are encouraged to sway their hips as they putt—or even croon along.
All this Elvis is paired with a course that draws on casino games for inspiration with some fun new mechanics to match. Put it all on black and pray that the giant roulette wheel plays along. Per usual, the DLC comes with both an easy and hard course, for a total of 36 new holes to master.

It’s quite a package—and with 31 courses already available for Walkabout Mini Golf, proof that Mighty Coconut still has a ton of ideas up its proverbial, sequinned sleeve. A music-centric course already feels unique enough, but a music-centric course that looks like this? I can’t help falling in love.
Walkabout Mini Golf is available on the Meta Horizon Store, and you can pick up Viva Las Elvis today for $3.99 USD. Just remember: If you see it once, you'll never be the same again.
