Watch YouTube With Friends on Meta Quest

From concerts and creators to episodic entertainment and more, YouTube is your destination for online videos and streaming. The YouTube app on Meta Quest lets you explore every video on YouTube, including 3D 360-degree videos in 8K, full movies in 4K, and even YouTube Shorts. And now, you can kick back and enjoy the experience with friends—no matter where in the world they happen to be.

Host a private watch party in fully immersive VR or in mixed reality with friends and family, near and far. You can invite up to seven people to join you to watch content from your favorite creators.

To get started:

  • Open up the YouTube app

  • Click the co-watch icon to start a watch party

  • Invite friends and family from your followers list—that’ll trigger a notification on their end to watch together in YouTube

  • Decide whether you want a fully immersive VR experience in your Meta Horizon Home or if you’d prefer to keep a view of your physical surroundings in MR—you’ll see your friends as avatars either way

  • Enjoy!

Pro-Tip: You have to be mutual followers for this to work. For now, only 2D content is supported, and for paid content, everyone in the watch party must pony up and pay for the content in order to see it.

The YouTube app is available in all countries and regions where Quest is supported, and it supports English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish languages. For the full YouTube experience that lets you view your subscriptions, playlists, watch history, and more, sign into your YouTube account.

Co-watching on YouTube is now available in beta, so pop some popcorn and assemble your squad. It’s time for a mixed reality movie night.
