Today is a big occasion for popular VR battle royale shooter, Contractors Showdown, because it marks the launch of the all-new game mode, Exfil Zone. This new mode is so large and robust it could have easily been an entirely new game on its own, but it’s being added into the game at no extra charge.

In Exfil Zone, players will descend into a completely revamped map for a slower-paced and more methodical gameplay experience. Rather than fighting just to be the last player standing, your objective will shift to looting and getting out alive to retain your new gear. With over 50 weapons and numerous attachments, as well as new defensive gear like helmets, night vision goggles, and more, there’s plenty to loot when you’re out on a mission. You’ll also need to eat food and drink water to survive during Exfil Zone raids, so it really keeps you on your toes!

You can enter raids as a ‘scav’ or ‘scavenger’ with basic, disposable equipment for lower-risk raids, or gear up with your good stuff to really try and dominate the competition, although you run the risk of losing that gear you’ve collected.

This update also introduces a new attachment system to fine tune and tweak your loadouts to hone in on the best options for different encounters. During matches, there are now vendors that offer dynamic missions mid-game such as elimination contracts, reconnaissance, or deploying tracking devices. As you complete missions and build loyalty with vendors, you’ll unlock better gear and resources for your future raids.

There’s also base-building elements in the game now to offer an ongoing meta progression element outside of your character and moment-to-moment gameplay, a new close-quarters combat map, custom lobbies for battle royale matches, and an offline training mode to practice on maps and develop strategies with your squad. Finally, you’ll also need to heal specific body parts now during matches and treat specific injuries to ensure your survival.

That just about covers all of the major changes and additions coming to Contractors Showdown with today’s Exfil Zone update. You can grab the game for yourself right now in the Meta Horizon store and dive into a battle royale or Exfil Zone match to put your skills to the test.
