Adventure Awaits: Wishlist ‘Demeo X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked’ on Meta Quest Today
For four years, Demeo has had players huddled around virtual game tables, redefining the idea of a fantasy tabletop adventure in a mixed reality world. Earlier this year, developer Resolution Games announced that it’s expanding the Demeo Action Role Playing System by teaming up with Hasbro and the biggest name in the TTRPG space. And starting today, players can add Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked to their wishlists on the Meta Horizon Store. To celebrate this milestone, the devs just dropped a new gameplay trailer:
For the team at Resolution Games, the chance to work with this licensed IP was a dream come true—after all, you can’t really discuss TTRPGs without coming back to D&D. For players, fans, and perplexed onlookers all over the world, Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson’s 51-year-old creation is a watchword for the entire genre, conjuring up images of rainy Saturdays huddled around basement card tables, of tense moments over teetering 20-sided die, of cultural references everywhere from Community to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stranger Things.
“There are certain games that are cornerstones in any gamer’s life, and we have so many members of the Battlemarked team that count D&D as one of those games,” says Gustav Stenmark, Game Director of Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked. “It’s been a blast, but we also take the responsibility of working on such a beloved IP very seriously. What we’ve created we hope will appeal to both the D&D-curious and experienced D&D fans alike.”
While Resolution Games wanted to maintain the focus on strategic battling and the fast-paced, approachable nature that defined the original Demeo, working with such a storied IP required expanding the more action-oriented game to accommodate the expansive narrative that defines the world of D&D. This meant incorporating cutscenes, expanded dialog, and more player choice.
“With Demeo, players love the quick, pick-up-and-play nature of the game, so we knew that needed to be a strong component,” says Stenmark. “Things from D&D that we wanted to build more into the Demeo Action Role Playing System were of course elements of the lore, the social element, and characters, to name a few. But ultimately, Battlemarked brings friends around the digital tabletop for a dice-rolling, card-playing, story-driven tactical adventure set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe like never before.”
Resolution Games tapped veteran writer Matt Sernett to help bring the world of D&D to life in the Demeo format. For him, the most important part of any D&D experience isn’t found in a particular monster, setting, or narrative trick. The players drive the story, and they’ve got to be in control.

“The best D&D stories are about a group of friends thrown together into a thrilling adventure,” says Sernett. “Whether it’s chaos, comedy, or epic heroism, the party dynamic is what makes it feel like D&D. That’s why our approach focuses on setting the stage rather than scripting every moment. Like writing a tabletop adventure, our job is to create a world full of hooks, surprises, and space for players to collaborate, improvise, and tell their own unforgettable stories. The authored content sets the tone—but the real magic happens when players take the reins and make the story their own.”
At launch, Sernett chose to explore the forests of Neverwinter Wood, dusting off the old sourcebooks to hopefully bring some new surprises even to fans who’ve been playing D&D for decades. But Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked is the first step in a new journey for the virtual TTRPG, and like the original game, it will continue to receive post-launch support in the form of new stories and modules as the game continues to evolve.

“One of the great joys of writing for Dungeons & Dragons is opening up its enormous box of incredible toys,” says Sernett. “The lore, monsters, magic items, and worlds are so rich and diverse. Sure, things like mind flayers and magic missiles instantly evoke classic D&D—but what excites me most is venturing beyond the expected. The multiverse is vast, and there are always new wonders waiting to be discovered.”
Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked is slated to launch in late 2025. Wishlist it today to get future announcements.
