At this year’s Connect, we launched Hyperscape Capture (Beta) — a new way for anyone ages 18+ to capture a physical space in just minutes and transform it into an immersive, digital replica that you can step inside and explore. Right off the bat, the response was incredible, and we know that people are excited to share these experiences with friends. That’s why, starting this week, we’re rolling out the ability to share and hang out with people in worlds made with Hyperscape on Meta Horizon — both on Meta Quest and mobile.

What you’ve seen so far has been just a preview of what’s possible. Now, to make these worlds feel truly alive, we’re leveraging the Meta Horizon Engine and moving rendering on-device. That unlocks lower latency and the travel features you expect from Horizon. We’ve also added audio — so you can feel present with friends in spaces that matter to you, no matter where in the world you each happen to be. And with Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s the perfect time to capture the holiday spirit in your home and invite family who couldn’t make the trip out to join you. 🙏🦃

Sharing your Hyperscape world is simple: Once your world is ready, hit the “invite” or “share” button to generate a link that you can share through Chats or any messaging platform, including via WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. Only people ages 18+ with the link can access your world, and as the creator, you’re in control and can reset access at any time. Up to eight people can join the same instance of the world right now — and we hope to increase that to more people in the future. All they need is a Meta Quest 3 or 3S headset and/or the Meta Horizon app on iOS or Android.

Like most new features, we’re rolling this out gradually to make sure we get it right. So if you don’t have the ability to share your Hyperscape worlds just yet, please sit tight — the update is on the way. And if you’ve already captured Hyperscape worlds, those will remain accessible only to you via the Hyperscape Preview app.

New to creating your own immersive digital replicas? It’s easy! All you need is your Quest 3 or 3S headset, the Hyperscape Capture (Beta) app, and a few minutes — no expensive camera rig required.

As the metaverse continues to take shape, we think a vibrant mix of experiences is key. Some days you might want to immerse yourself in an otherworldly adventure, which is where our vast library of VR apps and worlds comes into play. And other days, you might want to visit a digital replica of a physical space you might not have the opportunity to see otherwise. Or you might want to spend quality time with friends someplace a little closer to home. That’s what Hyperscape makes possible. By bringing you together in realistic digital replicas of physical spaces with the people who matter most, Hyperscape can make your experiences in the metaverse more meaningful and fun. In the future, we’re excited to see what creators build by mixing styles and approaches.
