Meta Horizon Worlds v114 Release Notes

Meta Horizon Worlds v114 is here! This week, we’re rolling out world chat—a text-based way to communicate with other people in the same world session. We’ve also fixed a bug in the UI and added a quality of life improvement to spawn asset events. Let’s dive into the details.

Introducing World Chat

We’re rolling out a new way to meet, coordinate, and interact with people in Worlds. In addition to voice chat, you can now communicate using world chat—a public, text-based chat experience for people in the same world session. Whether you’re playing games, watching a comedy show, or meeting new friends at a concert, it’s now easier than ever to chat it up with those around you! World chat is rolling out slowly to a small number of people, and we’re continuing to bring the experience to even more of the Worlds community in the coming weeks. We hope to expand availability later this summer.

People will be able to connect with or follow others participating in the chat (e.g., message, start a party) by clicking the person’s name to view their profile and inviting them to connect. People will also be able to @mention others in world chat who are in the same world. World chat also offers ease-of-use tools to make it easy to meet and interact with others—like quick replies so you can connect without having to type long messages.

And of course, there are rules to help create a positive community experience. We automatically scan and remove messages that go against our Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences. In addition, we’ve provided more tools so you’re in control of your experience:

  • Turn on the blurred chats setting to choose whether people you don’t know can read your messages. When the blurred chats setting is turned on, world chat messages from people you don’t know will appear blurred, and your chats will appear blurred to them, too. The blurred chats setting is turned on automatically for people ages 13 – 17.
  • You can report, block, or mute someone and their message if you don’t want to hear from them.
  • You can also minimize the chat window or hide the chat altogether in Settings to avoid world disruption.

We’re also expanding our suite of parental supervision tools. Parents or guardians can use these tools to ensure those 13 – 17 years old have an age-appropriate chat experience by changing or locking the blurred chat setting. To learn more about parental supervision and connect your account, visit Family Center for Meta Horizon Worlds.
