Supernatural Introduces MR Mode + Announces Results of First-Of-Its-Kind Efficacy Study

With its lightweight, ergonomic, and wireless design, Quest is designed to get people moving—and now we can definitively say that workouts in VR can be just as effective as workouts IRL because science! 🧪

Supernatural just released the results of a rigorous, first-of-its-kind research study validating the effectiveness of VR fitness. This assessment—conducted by the University of Victoria, Canada (UVic), led by Dr. Ryan Rhodes at UVic, and co-authored by Tabitha Craig and Dr. Yoah Sui)—determined that Supernatural’s gamified VR workouts are a “vigorous” form of cardiovascular activity.

In other words, Supernatural is the workout equivalent to common cardio and fitness activities such as running, boxing, and swimming*—while immersing you in a radically new fitness experience.

But wait, there’s more! Supernatural is adding a new mixed reality feature that lets you work out while keeping your physical surroundings in sight. We’re also excited to announce that Netflix is starting to roll out to a browser in-headset near you!

In the coming days, you’ll be able to launch the Browser, log into Netflix, and enjoy cult classics and new favorites like 3 Body Problem in high resolution. You can choose between a flat 2D screen or theater view for a far-field curved screen.

Beat Saber Drops Five Free Tracks With Original Soundtrack 7

In T-minus one hour and counting, Beat Saber’s releasing OST7, featuring new and exclusive tracks from Nitro Fun, Teminite x Boom Kitty, and more—including a brand-new song from Lindsey Stirling’s upcoming album. With today’s launch, the game’s catalog of free songs will grow to 55 tracks.

Last month, we gave fans a glimpse of what Camouflaj and Oculus Studios have been concocting in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC with the tease of Batman: Arkham Shadow—a brand-new entry in the Batman: Arkham franchise coming exclusively to Quest 3 in late 2024.

Travel Mode: Quest Takes to the Skies

From carry-on to carry-all, Quest 3 is the perfect companion for all your travels, near and far. And with our recent introduction of Travel Mode, you can now use it on an airplane, so it’s travel friendlier than ever before. Travel Mode turns your headset into the ultimate in-flight entertainment system, so you can watch movies on a massive virtual screen, kick back with a game or meditation app, and even get some work done in private. And thanks to its balanced, ergonomic design, you can enjoy it all comfortably, no neck pillow required.

We also announced a new pilot program (pun intended) with Lufthansa, marking the first time an airline will offer access to Quest 3 headsets in a commercial in-flight setting. Beginning this summer, passengers of the new Lufthansa Allegris Business Class Suite on selected flights can enjoy a variety of custom, dedicated MR content spanning entertainment, travel, wellness, games, and more—all designed to run on Quest 3 in Travel Mode.

Basketball is back with a selection of 20 WNBA games streaming live in Xtadium. 🏀 Enjoy the games solo or host a game night with friends in a private VR watch party. You can sit courtside to get in on the action and catch every highlight up close. Select games will be available in 180-degree VR, and you can watch the 2D rectilinear games on a massive MR screen.

First up, POPULATION: ONE is dropping a massive update on June 6. In Phoenix Royale, players will be able to respawn after death and cheat defeat as long as at least one squadmate is still alive. As part of Phoenix Royale, the BigBox VR team is also launching an all-new map, adding more buildings and structures for players to climb and fly from, and introducing new tech and mechanics like buy stations, supply crates, and sprinting to liven things up.
