I've been workin' on the railroad...

Let’s face it; you aren’t playing Train Sim World VR: New York for the visuals, and honestly, for most of the time I was playing I was focused on my tablet screen which shows current speed, speed limit, and any upcoming changes in that limit and the distance to those changes. There isn’t much time to enjoy the limited and repeating textures whipping by, but there is still plenty of enjoyment and satisfaction to be had if you are into these job simulator type of games.

Problems with game on launch

Ok so I’m a long time Train Sim World player on both Xbox and PC. Was really looking forward to this. I know it’s launch day and there will be problems. Love the first two minutes that I have gotten to play. Game froze up at second stop. Also there is no way to adjust height in the game. I load the intro and my character height is about an inch above the desk. On the controls page the text is overlapping and none of the buttons do anything on the controls page. I want so bad for this game to get batter. Until then best you can get is a 3 star from me. Hope to see an update today

So disappointed after a long wait

So let’s start with some positives. Controls are good and immersive and when approaching stations the VR view really gives the impression of approaching a station. I used to be a tram driver and the control does feel quite realistic. Height adjustment is a real issue and the first time i loaded in i was literally on the floor under the desk. Had to restart. This desperately needs sorting as i imagine most of us will want to play this seated. Graphically the game is so far a little disappointing. Track ahead isn’t always visible and pops into view and the bends are literally straight pieces of track at a different angle. So far i haven’t encountered any other moving trains and the scenery is repetitive and rather basic. For me one of the big problems with this title is that most of us are TSW fans who have played on High end consoles and PC’s. We have waited a long time for this launch and it seems very glitchy. Great potential and could be a really impressive title with a little more love and care in the updates. I have high hopes for improvements.

It’s not the Quest. It’s the developers.

What a shame. No one can convince me that the reason this game seems like an Alpha at launch is the Quest performance. Let’s get over the graphics topic that’s normal and it’s not bad. Developers where was your head at? - Braking has no sound. - Between Coast and Forward the sound is always the same and no smooth transition. - Doesn’t take much to add to the feel of a station and subway, just add button that says “Next stop” and gibberish if it’s too much to do every station (Which is not). Add announcements like “Ding-please stand behind the yellow line blah blah” at the station. - Open window doesn’t even have any wind sound at full speed. - Seat height problems and no options to set up and resolve in a game like this ugh. You know how when you use the emergency brake and (fails to make you feel anything because it doesn’t even have sound effects or anything) you lose points and fail? Well the team who put this together pressed that and failed this project. It’s embarrassing considering the resources they had like sound effects from being in collaboration or the maker of train sim world franchise. I really wanted to like this game but it’s a refund for me especially at this price (Second most expensive game in the store, that’s just funny, because I’ve seen $5 early access games more polished than this) in the next few days if when I try it again nothing has been implemented or no promise of future updates including these additional features. I’m not paying 30+ dollars for a 3D apartment in New York. Oh and lastly, I think the devs should create an apartment sim VR game where you decorate and clean it. Sure would be good at that since we’ve seen their lack of basic knowledge of making the simplest additions to a train sim game.

Really Good Game

I’m actually pretty surprised by this game, actually felt like I was driving a train! ( not that I’ve ever driven one) but i felt pretty immersed. The controls are great, and my seated position was pretty good however I felt like it needs a seat height position! As I wanted to be a little higher up as it can make your arm go dead sitting lower than the control arm! No dead man’s arm pun intended lol. However I overcame the height issue by using the meta mobility settings and adjusted my height that way and it felt much better, so would be great for the game to add this setting in game. The graphics are ok feel they could be tweaked a little more to make the workers and signs approaching you a little clearer and make the scenery a little more pleasing on the eye! QGO also sorted these graphical issues for me. However all said and done I actually love this game really does give you an insight into the concentration needed of a train driver it’s not all throw the lever and sit back!! With the above tiny little things implemented it’s definitely a 5 star game from me! Great job! Look forwards to completing more train driving challenges.
