Refer an app or subscription for Meta Quest

You can refer apps and subscriptions by generating a referral link. You must log in to the Meta Horizon app or your headset using your Meta account to send a referral link.

In order for a friend to claim a referral for an app, you must follow each other. You do not need to follow and be followed by someone for them to claim a referral for a subscription.

If you refer an app, you'll receive up to USD 5 (or equivalent regional currency) in promotional Quest cash, depending on the price of the app, when your friend purchases and activates the app. Your friend will receive a 15% discount.

If you refer a subscription, your friend will receive a 30-day free trial. When they become a paying subscriber, you'll receive a complimentary 30-day extension on your active subscription.

To send a referral link:

  1. Open the Meta Horizon app on your phone.
  2. Tap your avatar picture at the bottom, then tap Menu in the top right.
  3. Scroll down to Payments and subscriptions, then tap Referrals.
  4. Tap Apps to see the apps and subscriptions eligible for referral.
  5. Tap the app or subscription that you want to refer, then tap Share or Send to share the referral.
    • You can also tap Copy to copy the referral link to share.

You can also send a referral link from the Meta Horizon Store on the app.

  1. Open the Meta Horizon app on your phone and navigate to the store.
  2. Find the app or subscription that you want to refer, then tap Options in the top right.
  3. Tap Send a referral link, then tap Share or Send to share the referral.
    • You can also tap Copy to copy the referral link to share.

To redeem a referral link:

  1. Open the Meta Horizon app on your phone, then tap Horizon chat in the top right.
  2. Tap the referral link, then create a new Meta account or log in.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to redeem the app or subscription and your 15% discount or 30-day free trial.

Apps

  • Users can only send a referral for the apps they already own.
  • Apps need to be of a minimum price of USD 10 or the local equivalent to qualify for referrals.
  • Senders will not be eligible to receive the promotional Quest cash if the referred app is refunded within 14 days of sending the referral.
  • Senders will be able to redeem the promotional Quest cash 14 days after the recipient buys the app using their referral.
  • Users can earn a maximum of USD 599 in promotional Quest cash per year from the Meta Quest Referral programme. This limit applies to rewards earned through both the Meta Quest referral programme and app referrals combined.
  • Users can earn USD 1 for apps priced between USD 10 and 19.99, USD 2 for apps priced between USD 20 and 29.99, USD 3 for apps priced between USD 30 and 39.99, USD 4 for apps priced between USD 40 and 49.99, and USD 5 for apps priced > USD 50.
  • The person receiving the referral will have seven days to purchase the app. If they choose not to buy the app immediately, they can go back to the app in the Meta Horizon Store within seven days and the discount will be automatically applied.
  • App referral is available in all supported countries and regions.
  • Each referral code can only be used three times.

Subscriptions

  • Users can only send a referral for apps that they are subscribed to.
  • Users can only redeem a referral for apps that they have never subscribed to.
  • Recipients will be eligible to get a 30-day free trial of the subscription.
  • Senders will be eligible to receive the complimentary 30-day extension to their existing subscription when recipients convert to paying subscribers.
  • The person receiving the referral will have seven days to subscribe to the app. If they choose not to subscribe to the app immediately, they can go back to the app in the Meta Horizon Store within seven days and the 30-day free trial will be automatically applied when they check out.

Apps not eligible for referral:

  • Any app under USD 10.
  • Any app that is refunded within 14 days.
  • Add-ons, extensions and in-app purchases.

Bear in mind that users can send referrals for subscriptions only if developers opt in.

Notes:

  • Only one discount per application or subscription.
  • App and subscription referrals cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion unless otherwise expressly stated in the terms of an offer. The app referral discount cannot be applied to an app that is currently discounted, regardless of which discount is better.
  • Each app referral code can only be used three times.
  • There is no limit to subscription referral codes.
