If your account was hacked or someone is using it without your permission
If your account was hacked or compromised, you can take action to regain your account. Visit the Facebook Help Centre or the Instagram Help Centre to learn how to secure your account. We'll ask you to change your password and review recent login activity.

How to know if your account was hacked
- Your email address or password has changed.
- Your name or date of birth has changed.
- Friend requests were sent to people you don't know.
- Messages were sent that you didn't write.
- Posts or ads were made that you didn't create.
You can also review these tools and tips to help keep your account safe. You may also want to learn how to protect yourself against malicious software that can potentially compromise your account. You can check to make sure that emails you receive are really from Facebook or really from Instagram.
Note: If the email address associated with your account has changed, you can reverse this. When an email address is changed, we send a message to the previous email account with a special link. You can click this link to reverse the email address change and secure your account.
