D-Link VR Air Bridge stopped receiving firmware updates in December 2024 and is no longer supported on any Quest headsets.

D-Link VR Air Bridge is an accessory that provides a streamlined solution to improve your wireless PC-VR experience. VR Air Bridge lets you connect your Meta Quest headset directly to your PC with a dedicated p2p Wi-Fi link. This simplifies and optimises your Air Link setup without having to make major changes to your home network.

How it works

If you're using Air Link without D-Link VR Air Bridge:

  • Your PC is connected to your router via Ethernet cable.
    • It's possible to use Air Link with your PC connected to your router wirelessly, however this isn't an optimal setup.
  • Your Meta Quest headset and PC communicate over the same network that all of your other devices are on.
    • This can cause sub-optimal performance due to network congestion and interference. This can be especially true if you have a more complicated network setup, such as a mesh system.

If you're using Air Link with D-Link VR Air Bridge:

  • Your PC connects to your wireless router via home Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  • Air Bridge is connected directly to your computer via USB, creating a dedicated 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection for your Meta Quest.

Minimum requirements

To use VR Air Bridge, your PC will need to meet the minimum specs for Link and Air Link; with the additional requirement of 1 USB 3.0 port.

First-time setup

Follow the directions below to set up your D-Link VR Air Bridge with Air Link.

  1. Open the Meta Quest app on your PC.
    • If you see a banner at the top of your application window that says an updated version of the app is available, run any required updates before continuing with the setup process.
    • You should also check for and download any driver updates for optimal performance.
  2. Plug your D-Link VR Air Bridge into a USB 3.0 port of your computer. You may see a dialogue box pop-up prompting you to Set up D-Link VR Air Bridge. Click Continue to proceed to the next step.
    • If you aren't prompted with a setup window, make sure that you're plugging Air Bridge into a USB 3.0 port. On many computers, USB 3.0 ports are blue in colour. A USB 2.0 port will not work with D-Link VR Air bridge.
    • If you hit cancel, you can set up Air Bridge later through the Devices tab on the right panel of the desktop app.
  3. On the next screen, pick a secure password for Air Bridge. Password requirements are highlighted below the Create password input. When you've finished, click Continue.
  4. Next you should see a status page that says Preparing to connect… once Air Bridge is ready, you'll be prompted to put on your headset.
  5. In your headset, access your Wi-Fi settings panel and select the network for Air Bridge. From here, you'll be prompted to enter the password you created in step three.
  6. Once a successful connection is made between the D-Link VR Air Bridge network and your Meta Quest headset, you'll see a message on your PC confirming that the setup is complete. Click Done.
  7. You should now be able to launch Air Link in VR by hovering over the clock in the menu bar and selecting Quick settings > Quest Link.

In the future, you can check the status of Air Bridge from the Devices panel in the Desktop app.
