Moving and adjusting windows

When you launch a 2D app, it opens in a window attached to the dock. You can have up to three windows attached to your dock. You can have multiple instances of the same 2D app open, such as multiple browser windows.

If three windows are already attached to the dock when you launch another app, one of the previously opened windows will minimise and be shown as icons beneath the dock.

To have more than three windows open at the same time, you can detach windows from your dock and move them anywhere in your virtual environment. You can have up to three windows around you and three windows attached to your dock.

There are several ways that you can rearrange windows in your virtual environment to fit your needs:

  • Moving windows
  • Minimising or closing windows
  • Resizing windows
  • Entering cinema view

Hide and show all windows

Double-press the Meta button or Oculus button to hide or show all docked and undocked windows.

Moving windows

To move a window:

  1. Using controllers or hand tracking, move the cursor to the outside perimeter of the window. A white line will appear.
  2. Select the white line to grab the window, and then drag it to a new location attached to the dock, or anywhere in your environment.

Minimising or closing windows

Minimised apps will maintain their state and can be reopened by selecting their icon from beneath the dock. Apps that are open but minimised are identified in Navigator by a white dot above the app icon.

To minimise or close a window:

  1. Select to minimise the window.
  2. Select to close the window.

Resizing windows

Some 2D apps can be resized by grabbing a corner. To resize a window:

  1. Using either controllers or hand tracking, move the cursor to one corner of the window that you want to resize. A curved white line will appear.
  2. Select the white line to grab the window, and then drag to resize the window.

Entering cinema view

Cinema view lets you focus on a specific 2D window, making it larger and dimming your surroundings. In cinema view, you have several options available in a menu below the window:

  • Select to adjust the dimness of your surroundings.
  • Select to toggle between a curved and flat screen.
  • Select to toggle pass-through on and off.

To open a window in cinema view:

  1. Select at the top of the window to open it in cinema view.
  2. To leave cinema view, select .

A cinema view window can be resized and moved using the same methods described above.
