Only Miku lovers should applyI really want to give this a good review, but it doesn't deserve it and that makes me sad. My daughter is a huge Miku fan so I got this for her and I was shocked at how little content is included. Even with all the DLC, it's maybe about 30 songs. That's really stingy. Sure, some of the songs are really solid but it's pathetic compared to the Project Diva games. You also only get two Miku costumes. The game seems to be more about dancing than accurately hitting the incoming notes, which frankly seem to be too frantic on some songs. Anyway, great to have a Miku game but we went back to Beat Saber and only do Miku from time to time. There are only a handful of backgrounds, and it's just too expensive for what's on offer. It's also only all Miku. Would be fun to have gotten other Vocaloids as well. Unfortunately the sound quality of the songs isn't the best. Audio is kind of tiny and muffled. 39 Music should rock the place, but this game's rendition is pretty anemic. Some songs also cut off before they're actually over, with Lucky Orb being the most obvious culprit here. Graphics are also a bit glitchy and Miku's model flickers from time to time.
At the end of the day, this is cool if you're a Miku fan but pass on it if you're not. My daughter's favorite song was DLC (39 Music), but at least it's available. My favorite song is Lucky Orb and it's included in the 10 songs for the base game. Ghost Rule is another solid song in the initial 10 songs but Romeo and Cinderella and Kimagure Mercy which are other big favorites at home are DLC. Hilariously you can use green onions instead of glow sticks so that was a nice touch. Ievann Polkka is also in the initial song list so get those green onions ready and enjoy the Polka! That's for hardcore Miku fans ;) But yea, Crypton needs to stop making their own games and partner up with Sega again. In the meantime, you get a similar experience for free with Kizuna AI. Just one song if you don't get DLC there but free is tough to beat.
