How to use autocapture for Garmin workouts on AI glasses
Autocapture for Garmin activities automatically captures footage based on your performance metrics during an activity, such as distance, speed, elevation, and heart rate. After you complete your activity, you will get a compilation video with your stats overlaid.
Take your own photos or videos during autocapture to include them in your highlights video.
Note: Autocapture for Garmin activities is not currently available for Meta Ray-Ban Display.
Before you start
Before you use autocapture for Garmin activities, complete the following:
- Connect a compatible Garmin device to your AI glasses.
- Turn on cloud media processing.
Once this is done, you can set autocapture to start automatically when you begin a Garmin activity.
Set up autocapture for Garmin
- From the Meta AI mobile app, tap Glasses in the top right.
- Tap Settings.
- If you have multiple devices paired with the Meta AI mobile app, swipe left or right to select the device before you tap Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Media.
- Tap Autocapture.
- Turn on On during Garmin activities to start autocapture automatically when you begin a Garmin activity.
Start an autocapture session
Use one of the following methods to start autocapture:
- Say Hey Meta, start autocapture.
- Start a Garmin activity if you turned on automatic start.
During autocapture:
- Continue to interact with Meta AI.
- Listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks.
- Capture photos or videos to include in the compilation video.
- Make or receive phone calls (autocapture pauses during calls and resumes after).
Note: Autocapture will not stop when you take your glasses off if the hinges remain open. This allows you to take a break from your activity without turning off autocapture.
Pause or stop an autocapture session
To pause an autocapture session, say Hey Meta, pause autocapture.
To stop autocapture, use one of these methods:
- Say Hey Meta, stop autocapture.
- Take off your glasses and close the hinges.
- Save your Garmin activity if you turned on automatic start.
Find your autocapture video in Gallery in the Meta AI mobile app after the import completes.
How autocapture for Garmin works
Autocapture uses smart triggering and compilation to provide the right amount of captures for both short and long activities. Your glasses capture based on performance metrics from your Garmin device, such as distance milestones or speed and heart rate changes.
Note: You can't choose your own stats to capture.
The glasses camera turns on only during active capture. You'll hear a sound and see the LED turn on during capture, similar to how capture works outside of autocapture.
Battery life varies based on factors such as weather, music listening and how often you take photos or videos. You'll hear alerts periodically when your battery runs low.
Check autocapture and Garmin connection status
To check if autocapture is on: Say Hey Meta, is autocapture on? or check the Devices tab in the Meta AI mobile app.
To check if your glasses are connected to Garmin: Look at your Garmin device. The glasses icon will have a slash through it if your glasses are not connected. If this happens, open the Meta AI mobile app and confirm your glasses are turned on and connected.

Note: Other activity types are not yet supported.
Troubleshoot autocapture for Garmin
Can't start an autocapture session: Autocapture requires an active Bluetooth connection to your phone to start. Make sure your AI glasses are connected to the Meta AI app.
Glasses show as disconnected on Garmin: Open the Meta AI app and make sure you're wearing your AI glasses and they're powered on. If the glasses still show a slash through them on your Garmin device, go to your glasses settings and relink your Garmin account.
Autocapture session stopped unexpectedly: An autocapture session may stop early if your AI glasses become heated, if your battery is critically low, or if you activate an incompatible feature like Live Translation. You'll hear an audio alert if the session stops due to an error.
