How to add activity stats and share to Strava

Add your performance stats to photos and videos taken with your AI glasses. You can then share your media to Strava, Instagram, and other apps.

How it works

When you capture photos or videos during a workout tracked by your Garmin device, you can overlay your stats onto that media. The stats automatically match the moment you captured, so if you took a video at mile 3, your overlay shows your pace, heart rate, and time at that exact point.

Add stats to your media

  1. Open the Meta AI app
  2. Go to your gallery and find the photo or video from your workout. For Autocapture sessions, look for the session tile that groups all your captures together.
  3. Tap on the media to open it in the full screen viewer.
  4. Tap Metrics to see and customize your overlay stats
  5. Choose which stats to display.
  6. Tap Share to share with your overlay, or tap Download to save the media with the overlay to your phone

Available stats by activity

Running and walking

  • Distance
  • Pace
  • Heart rate
  • Cadence
  • Time
  • Elevation

Cycling

  • Distance
  • Speed
  • Power
  • Cadence
  • Heart rate
  • Elevation

Snow sports

  • Vertical descent: Total elevation dropped during your activity
  • Ski runs: Number of runs completed
  • Speed: Your speed at the moment of capture
  • G-forces: Acceleration forces during turns and descents
  • Slope grade: Steepness of the terrain
  • Elevation: Current altitude

Overlays with Autocapture

When Autocapture records videos based on your Garmin triggers, your captures are grouped into a session tile in your gallery. When you view the session:

  • You'll see a compilation of all your Autocapture clips
  • Overlays show rolling stats (time, speed, distance, elevation) on each clip
  • A summary of your activity stats appears at the end of the compilation
  • You can review and delete individual clips from the session

Autocapture triggers by activity

  • Running/Cycling: Distance milestones, heart rate zones, speed thresholds
  • Snow sports: Descents, ascents, and other skiing/snowboarding milestones

Share media to Strava

Share your photos and videos with stats directly to your Strava activities.

How to share media to Strava

  1. Open the Meta AI app
  2. Find the photo, video, or Autocapture compilation you want to share.
  3. Tap on the media to open the full screen viewer.
  4. Tap Metrics to add or customize your stats overlay.
  5. Tap Share and select Strava.
  6. Choose the matching activity to attach your media.
  7. Your media appears as a highlight on your Strava activity.

Share media from these locations

  • The gallery widget on the Devices tab
  • The Gallery grid
  • The Autocapture session screen

Note: When sharing an Autocapture compilation to Strava, the full stitched video with all clips and overlays will be shared. When sharing from other entry points, individual media items will be shared separately.

Supported activities for Strava sharing

  • Running: Pace, distance, heart rate, time
  • Cycling: Speed, distance, power, cadence
  • Walking/Hiking: Distance, elevation, time
  • Skiing: Vertical descent, ski runs, speed, G-forces
  • Snowboarding: Vertical descent, runs, speed, G-forces
  • Cross-country skiing: Distance, elevation gain, time

Share media to other apps

You can also share your media with stats to:

  • Instagram: Stories, Reels, or posts
  • Facebook: Stories or posts
  • WhatsApp: Messages
  • Camera Roll: Save to your phone for later sharing

How to share media to other apps

  1. Tap on your media to open the viewer.
  2. Tap Metrics to add stats overlay if desired.
  3. Tap Share and choose your destination app.

Note: When sharing to Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories, or Edits, your Autocapture compilation will be shared as individual clips for editing. When sharing to other channels (Posts, WhatsApp, messages), it will be shared as one compiled video.

Things to know

  • Garmin required for real-time stats: Activity overlays use data from your connected Garmin device. Without Garmin, you can still add overlays using data from Strava, but stats will sync after your activity ends.
  • Stats match your capture moment: Overlays show your performance at the exact time the photo or video was taken.
  • Sync before sharing: Your activity must be synced to Strava before you can attach media to it.
  • Overlay branding: When using Garmin data, overlays display Garmin attribution. When using Strava data, overlays display Strava attribution.
