How to connect 18Birdies to AI glasses

Connect 18Birdies to your displayless AI glasses to get hands-free distances to green, club recommendations, gameplay tips and score logging.

Golf features with 18Birdies are currently available in the US and Canada in English only, additional countries coming soon. Available for ages 18 and up.

What you'll need

RayBan Meta, Oakley Meta, and Meta AI Displayless glasses are all compatible (Firmware version 126 or later).
Meta AI app (update to version 279.1).
18Birdies app (free to download) on the App Store or Google Play.
Set Always Allow for Location Settings in Meta AI and 18Birdies.
Internet connectivity.

18Birdies is free to use with AI glasses. Core features like GPS distances, scoring, and shot capture work without a premium subscription. Premium 18Birdies features (advanced analytics, longer round history) require a separate 18Birdies subscription purchased through the 18Birdies app.

Before you begin

If you haven't already, set up 18Birdies:

Download the 18Birdies app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Open the 18Birdies app and create your account.
Complete the initial setup (profile, preferences, measurement system).
Optional: Set up your golf bag in the app to receive personalized club recommendations (premium users).

Connect 18Birdies to AI glasses

On your phone:

From the Meta AI app, tap Glasses in the top right.
Tap Device settings.
If you have multiple devices paired with the Meta AI app, swipe left or right to select the device that you want to adjust settings for before tapping Device settings.
Tap App connections.
Find 18Birdies in the list of available apps.
Tap Connect.
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Meta AI and 18Birdies accounts.
Tap Done when the connection is confirmed.

You'll see a confirmation message when 18Birdies is successfully connected.

Test your connection

After connecting 18Birdies, test the integration:

Put on your AI glasses.
Say "Hey Meta, start a round of golf at [course name]."
Meta AI should respond with confirmation that your round is starting on 18Birdies.

Use 18Birdies during your round of golf

Once connected, make sure to keep your phone nearby. First, you will need to start a round via voice command or manually in the app. Here are some example voice commands that you can use during your round:

Start and end a round

"Hey Meta, start a round of golf on the [tee name]."
"Hey Meta, I want to play a round of golf on the white tees at Pebble Beach Golf Links."
"Hey Meta, end my round."

Get distances

"Hey Meta, how far am I from the green?".
"Hey Meta, what's the distance to the [front/center/back] of the green?".
"Hey Meta, what's this hole playing like?" (premium feature).

Club recommendations (premium feature - requires golf bag setup)

"Hey Meta, what club should I use from this distance?".
"Hey Meta, what club should I use for this shot?".

Get gameplay tips

"Hey Meta, how do I play this hole?".
"Hey Meta, where should I aim my tee shot?".

Log your score

"Hey Meta, log a [score] on hole [number].".
"Hey Meta, log a [score] with [number] putts on hole [number].".
"Hey Meta, log a 5 with 2 putts on hole 3.".
"Hey Meta, update my scorecard with a birdie on hole 4.".

Check your performance

"Hey Meta, what's my score relative to par?".
"Hey Meta, how am I doing?".

Troubleshooting

18Birdies won't connect

If you see an error when connecting:

Confirm you're signed in to the 18Birdies app.
Check that your AI glasses firmware is version 126 or later.
Sign out of the 18Birdies app, then sign back in.
Restart the Meta AI app.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting in App connections.

Voice commands not working

If Meta AI doesn't respond to golf commands:

Confirm 18Birdies is connected in the Meta AI app.
Start a round by saying "Hey Meta, start a round of golf.".
Check that your phone has an active internet connection.
Verify Bluetooth connection between phone and glasses.

GPS distances seem inaccurate

GPS yardages are approximate and may vary by 5–10 yards.
Ensure location services are enabled for the 18Birdies app.
Check that you're on the correct hole by saying "Hey Meta, what hole am I on?"

GPS yardages provided by AI glasses are for reference only. They measure to the center of the green by default. Actual distances may vary based on GPS signal quality, satellite positioning, and course mapping accuracy. Always use your best judgment when selecting clubs.
