How to use neural handwriting to ask Meta AI questions on Meta Ray-Ban Display

This feature is currently available as an Early Access feature on Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses with Meta Neural Band in the US and Canada (English only).

Neural handwriting uses the Meta Neural Band to capture muscle activity as you write with your finger, allowing you to ask Meta AI questions silently on your Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses.

With neural handwriting, you can silently ask Meta AI to answer questions, play music, send messages, or get navigation directions.

Before you begin

You must have:

  • Paired your Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses with your Meta Neural Band.
  • Updated your glasses, band, and Meta AI app with the latest software update.
  • Enrolled in the Early Access Program.

Turn on neural handwriting for Meta AI

  1. From the Meta AI mobile app, tap Settings on the top right.
  2. Select your glasses from the device list.
  3. Tap Early Access.
  4. Toggle on Meta AI with neural handwriting.

To use neural handwriting with Meta AI

  1. Do a double thumb tap while wearing your Meta Neural Band to activate Meta AI.
  2. When the display turns on, tap on the Write button by tapping your index finger and thumb together one time (index tap).
  3. Use your index finger to write lowercase letters. This will work best if you write in print (not cursive) on a solid surface, like a table, your leg, or your other hand.
  4. As you write, you will see your text appear on your glasses display.
  5. When you stop writing, index tap to send your query to Meta AI, which will process your query and show you a response on your display.

Tips for best results

  • Write with your index finger: Anchor your wrist on a hard surface and use your index finger to write. Print your letters instead of using cursive and use lowercase letters.
  • Write fluidly and at a consistent speed: Don’t wait for individual letters to appear on your glasses display. Keep writing smoothly in print and AI will auto-fix typos and capitalize letters where necessary.
  • Use a flat surface: You'll get the best results writing on your other hand, your leg, a table, or a desk.
