How to use audio only

You can enable audio only in situations where you want to prevent the display from waking. When audio only is enabled, experiences will not automatically wake the display. For example, notifications will not turn on the display, and Meta AI interactions will be audio only. You can always manually wake the display.

To enable or disable audio only:

  1. From the display home, swipe left.
  2. Swipe down and select Audio only.

You can also say “Hey Meta, turn on audio only,” or “Hey Meta, turn off audio only.”

How to wake your display when audio only is enabled

When audio only is enabled, you can still use the display as you normally would by waking it manually. This does not turn off audio only.

To wake the display, you can do either of the following:

  • Double-tap your middle finger and thumb using Meta Neural Band.
  • Double tap the glasses touchpad with two fingers.

How to use driving detection

When driving detection is enabled and you are wearing Meta Ray-Ban Display, audio only will proactively activate if high speed movement is detected. This will prevent your display from turning on until high-speed movement is no longer detected.

For driving detection to work, make sure motion and fitness (iOS) or physical activity (Android) permissions are enabled for the Meta AI mobile app from your phone’s app permission settings.

To enable or disable driving detection:

  1. From the Meta AI mobile app, tap Glasses in the top right.
  2. Tap Device settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap the toggle next to Driving detection assistance.

Notes:

  • Driving detection is triggered by high-speed movement, so it may be possible for the feature to activate in other scenarios (example: when you are a passenger in a vehicle). You can always manually wake your display. Manually waking the display does not turn off driving detection or audio only. You can also say “Hey Meta, I’m a passenger” or “ Hey Meta, I’m not driving” to turn off audio only.
  • Driving detection relies on your phone’s signal in order to detect high-speed movement. It will not activate without a phone paired to Meta Ray-Ban Display. How quickly and under what circumstances your phone recognizes high-speed movement may vary. See your phone’s system manual for more information on your phone’s signal, permissions and limitations.

Stay aware of your surroundings

Audio only and driving detection are some ways that can help you stay aware of your surroundings while using Meta-Ray Ban Display. For more safety guidelines, you can review the Meta Ray-Ban Display safety guide.
