Neural handwriting uses the Meta Neural band to capture muscle activity as you write short messages with your finger. This lets you reply to messages received on your Meta Ray-Ban Display AI glasses. Learn more about how to call and message on Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses

Before you begin

  • Connect WhatsApp or Messenger in the Meta AI app.
  • Update your Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses and Meta Neural Band to the latest software.

Neural handwriting setup and usage steps

Follow these steps to set up and use neural handwriting input on your Meta Ray-Ban Display.

  1. Open a thread and swipe down on the screen to the reply box.
  2. Tap the new button labeled Write to begin neural handwriting.
  3. Use your index finger to write letters, similar to writing on a touch screen. For best results, print your letters (do not use cursive).
  4. As you write, autocomplete suggestions appear in the composer box in a lighter gray color. Accept a suggestion by swiping your thumb right.
  5. To access additional emojis or punctuation, single tap your index finger to open the Context Menu.

Get the best results

  • Write with your index finger with your wrist anchored on a hard surface. Print your letters instead of using cursive.
  • Practice fluid gestures and write at a consistent speed, without waiting for individual letters to appear on your glasses display. Keep writing for AI to auto-fix typos.
  • Use a solid surface like your other hand, your leg, a table, or a desk for best results.
